Finally a Hit That Means Something (Tigers vs A’s)

There wasn’t much to be proud of for both lineups in game 2 of the ALDS series between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics. Beyond the excellent pitching from Justin Verlander and Sonny Gray, there was one moment of clutch and greatness from Stephen Vogt, driving in the only run in the game at the bottom of the ninth, making it a walk off hit to tie up the series at 1-1.

An Offense That Doesn’t End (Rays vs Red Sox)

At the end of the day, it simply doesn’t look like the Tampa Bay Rays have quality pitching that’s enough to handle the non-stop offense the Boston Red Sox bring to the table this season and in this series, with game 2 highlighting the home run hitting ability of David Ortiz, helping his team take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Barely Holding On (Dodgers vs Braves)

Some quality gaps are too hard to bridge, but the Atlanta Braves somehow managed to even up things with the Los Angeles Dodgers, beating the visitors 4-3 in game 2 of their divisional series, getting just about enough from Mike Minor when there were runners in scoring positions and some solid closing from Craig Kimbrel.

Perfect Pitching Going the Other Way Now (Pirates vs Cardinals)

Turning the tables was the main theme in game 2 of the series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates, with Gerrit Cole having an absolutely dominant performance on the pitching mound while Pedro Alvarez hit a big 2-run homer in order to reverse the roles and give the Pirates a 7-1 win, tying up the series at 1-1.

Over Before it Even Began (Rays vs Red Sox)

Game 1 between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox was about mistakes and making the most of them, which went very well for the Red Sox, completing a 12-2 rout, getting a very strong performance from Jon Lester on the mound while Jacoby Ellsbury, Shane Victorino and Jarrod Saltalamacchia were busy bringing runners home.

Clayton Kershaw a Nightmare to Bat Against (Dodgers vs Braves)

The Los Angeles Dodgers made things very simply for Clayton Kershaw in the opening of their NLDS series against the Atlanta Braves, giving him an early lead to protect, something he probably does better than anyone else in the majors.

Adam Wainwright Making Postseason History (Pirates vs Cardinals)

On the mound, it was Adam Wainwright setting franchise records and being close to untouchable. At bat, it began with Carlos Beltran and his 3-run homer that sparked the St. Louis Cardinals into life, eventually taking a 1-0 lead in their NL division series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

New York Yankees – Offense Doesn’t Mean Anything With Terrible Pitching

Instead of dominating in a series that could have pushed the New York Yankees back into contention for the AL East crown and a place in the playoffs, they became the first AL team to lose three consecutive home games despite scoring at least 8 runs in each of them.

  • Alex Rodriguez Playing for a Team and in a League That Doesn’t Want Him

Alex Rodriguez Playing for a Team and in a League That Doesn’t Want Him

The New York Yankees would love to see Alex Rodriguez finally suspended. Major League Baseball can’t wait to get the legal stuff over him and suspend him already for a year, two or maybe more. A-Rod? He’s just focusing on playing baseball, winning and trying to keep the chatter around him to the necessary minimum.

On Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees, Greed and Cheating

It’s hard to find a single person on the planet actually rooting for Alex Rodriguez. There’s no doubt he used performance enhancing drugs for a substantial part of his career. Now the New York Yankees are trying to do everything in their power to get their own player suspended, so they can avoid paying him the money they foolishly decided to give him.
