It really doesn’t matter that the Memphis Grizzlies were down by 14 points at the moment they missed 7 consecutive layups in one sequence of offense, and that they later managed to tie the game and force overtime. Both Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol couldn’t make the most of the second-chance points opportunities they were given, and lost a game 2 in which they could have stolen home court advantage.

San Antonio Spurs – Tim Duncan Erases Fourth Quarter Disaster With Perfect Overtime
The San Antonio Spurs knew game 2 was going to be much harder, and they weren’t wrong. They scored only 9 points in the fourth quarter as Tony Parker, excellent in his passing (not his shooting) for most of the game ran out of steam at some point. Luckily for them, Tim Duncan was there to take the scoring on his shoulders in overtime, while being fantastic on defense all game long.

Tony Allen Forces Overtime and a Flagrant Foul on Manu Ginobili by Flopping
There are two kinds of flopping – acting like you’ve been fouled when there wasn’t any contact at all, or exaggerating a minor physical contact. Tony Allen was fouled by Manu Ginobili, by pretty much shamed himself by rolling on the ground like someone shot him in the head. It lead to a four point play that sent the Memphis Grizzlies and the San Antonio Spurs into overtime, where the Spurs won and took a 2-0 lead.

NBA Playoffs – Grizzlies vs Spurs Game 2 Predictions
There’s no way the San Antonio Spurs can hold Zach Randolph to only two points once again. It’s also hard to imagine the Memphis Grizzlies allowing Tony Parker to run wild and go down after the first quarter behind by 17 points, and losing by 22 points. Things don’t work that way in the playoffs, and two days is a whole lot of time between the opener and game 2.

The emergence of Jimmy Butler during his second season, usually at the expense of an injured Luol Deng, has the Chicago Bulls thinking that it might be time to finally pull the trigger on a trade they’ve been considering for a very long time. With Butler on the rise and Deng becoming more and more of a health risk, there’s a chance that before his contract runs out in 2014, the two-time All-Star will find himself on another team.

NBA teams aren’t allowed to have any contact with free agents until July 1, but the photos of Dirk Nowitzki, Mark Cuban and Chris Paul at Tiger Woods’ “Poker Night” tournament give everyone a pretty strong feeling that the best point guard in the NBA might be heading to play for the Dallas Mavericks next season after the disappointing finish with the Los Angeles Clippers in this year’s playoffs.
