  • Shabazz Muhammad – The Next Big Basketball Star?

Shabazz Muhammad was the main attraction of the McDonald’s All-American game in Chicago, leading the West with 21 points to a 106-102 win over the East, helped by 18 points from Rasheed Sulamion. Muhammad is one of the few players who took part in the High School All-Star game that still hasn’t chosen a school to play College Ball for.

  • Serge Ibaka Rejecting Nicolas Batum for Block of the Season

Serge Ibaka pulled off another impressive stat line in the Thunder’s 109-95 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, finishing with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks, the most impressive of those blocked shots coming against Nicolas Batum who was soaring, on his way to finish with an impressive dunk of his own.

  • The 2012 College Basketball Consensus All-Americans

Anthony Davis was meant to be an All-American and national player of the year from the moment he signed on to play for Kentucky. He’s not the only big name and not the only future NBA (potential) star on that team in my opinion, but he’s certainly the most impressive talent and the most consistent in Calipari’s group.

  • Kentucky – Louisville Such a Final Four Attraction Because of Calipari – Pitino Rivalry

Rick Pitino will make his sixth trip to the Final Four this weekend, his second with Louisville. For John Calipari, it’ll be his third visit to the national Semi Final, his second consecutive time with Kentucky. Like in that 1996 Semi Final between them, when Calipari was coaching UMass and Pitino was the Kentucky Head coach, all the focus is on them.

  • Kobe Bryant Refuses To Make Fourth Quarter Benching an Issue

Kobe Bryant wasn’t happy after the 102-96 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, and just because the Los Angeles Lakers lost the game. Not just because instead of backing the sudden talk of championship material with a win over a good team, the Lakers folded, at home, only their fourth loss of the season.

  • Kevin Durant & Thunder Maintain Western Supremacy

Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder aren’t the best team in the better NBA conference for nothing. Even with Russell Westbrook not having one of his greatest days, Durant led the Thunder to an impressive 103-87 win over the Miami Heat, who looked lost from the start in their visit to OKC.

  • The Kentucky Derby – The 2012 Final Four Version

Kentucky will be the only #1 seed in the 2012 Final Four, which is an improvment for big teams after last year, in which no #1 or #2 seeds made it in to the last weekend for the first time in tournament history. Unlike 2011, a year with no clear favorites, Kentucky stand as the obvious choice to win at all, with Kansas, Ohio State and Louisville waiting in line.

  • Luol Deng & Bulls Keep Winning the Hard Way

Luol Deng keeps doing what everyone on the Chicago Bulls has been doing of late – finding ways to win without their best player, their biggest star, the reigning (and exiting) MVP, Derrick Rose. This time, Deng hit a buzzer beating shot to give the Bulls a 102-101 win over the Toronto Raptors in overtime.

  • Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith With the Double Alley-Oop

J.R. Smith is incredible, maybe the most impressive dunker in the NBA. Iman Shumpert has made more than a slight impression with his energy and athleticism off the bench during his rookie season with the New York Knicks. In the 101-79 win over the Detriot Pistons, the two combined for one of the most impressive Alley-Oop dunks of the season.

  • Jim Boeheim Can’t Beat Big Ten Teams

Jared Sullinger was too much, finishing with 19 point. Syracuse couldn’t keep Ohio State at bay with their zone defense that worked OK in the first half, but allowed 52.4% in the second half. Thad Matta is headed to his second final four with the Buckeyes in six years, while Jim Boeheim, who had a rough year off the court, tries to figure out how this happens against Big Ten teams all the time.
