The Los Angeles Dodgers keep beating the San Francisco Giants, this time with a shutout by Rich Hill and a Justin Turner home run. The New York Yankees shutout the Seattle Mariners, enjoying another big day for Gary Sanchez, and the Baltimore Orioles dominate their neighbourly rivalry with the Washington Nationals, beating them for a third consecutive time.
Houston Astros 5 Â Pittsburgh Pirates 4:Â Good win for the Astros to keep themselves in the wild card race, getting things going early with a two-run homer by Evan Gattis, and hanging on to the lead from there.
Colorado Rockies 1 Â Milwaukee Brewers 7:Â Ryan Braun hit two home runs (24 this season) to finish with 3 RBIs, while Zach Davies struck out 8 in six innings to pick up his 10th win of the season.
Cleveland Indians 1 Â Oakland A’s 5:Â A second straight loss for the Indians, unable to put runners in scoring positions despite 9 hits, making a few defensive mistakes that helped the A’s pick up the win.
New York Yankees 5 Â Seattle Mariners 0:Â Another home run for Gary Sanchez (his 9th of the season) while Masahiro Tanaka shuts out the Mariners in 7 innings, the job finished by Dellin Betances. This dropped the Mariners to 3 games behind the wild card spot.
Chicago Cubs 6 Â San Diego Padres 3:Â No problem for the Cubs in Southern California again, as Kyle Hendricks struck out 8 on his way to earned win number 12 this season. Willson Contreras hit a solo homer, and Ben Zobrist had a couple of RBIs.
Baltimore Orioles 10 Â Washington Nationals 8:Â The Orioles win their third in a row (while Washington lose their 4th straight), although a 10-3 lead was cut down in the 9th inning after a Daniel Murphy grand slam home run. Manny Machado and Matt Wieters hit home runs for the O’s, who are just one game behind the Blue Jays and Red Sox.
Los Angeles Angels 8  Toronto Blue Jays 2: Matt Shoemaker carries on with his good form, while the hitting of Albert Pujols and Mike Trout, both hitting solo home runs, did most of the work.
Texas Rangers 6 Â Cincinnati Reds 5:Â Yu Darvish of all players hit a home run although his mound performance wasn’t as good. The game was tied in the 8th, until Adrian Beltre hit an RBI double to get the win.
Kansas City Royals 0 Â Miami Marlins 3:Â A remarkable run by the Royals is halted by Jose Fernandez, striking out 9 and setting a new franchise record for strikeouts in a season. Two RBIs from Christian Yelich and another from Marcell Ozuna did the job on offense.
Boston Red Sox 3 Â Tampa Bay Rays 4:Â The Red Sox taking a 3-0 lead didn’t help them, as the Rays tied it up in the 8th with Evan Longoria hitting a home run, and won it in the 11th with a error from pitcher Heath Embree.
Philadelphia Phillies 5 Â Chicago White Sox 3:Â Jerad Eickhoff was good enough in his start to allow home runs from Cesar Hernandez and Tommy Joseph to make the difference in Chicago.
Detroit Tigers 9 Â Minnesota Twins 4:Â Matt Boyd struck out 7 in his start, and home runs from Justin Upton and Miguel Cabrera made everything a lot easier, as the Tigers won their third game in a row.
New York Mets 1 Â St. Louis Cardinals 8:Â The Cardinals hold on to their 1.5 game lead in the wild card standings, while this season is slipping away from the Mets, giving up 19 hits and three home runs, including number 19 this season for Stephen Piscotty.
Atlanta Braves 9 Â Arizona Diamondbacks 10:Â In a wild game with a lot of bad pitching, the Diamondbacks win in the 11th inning with a walk-off sacrifice fly by Brandon Drury.
San Francisco Giants 0 Â Los Angeles Dodgers 1:Â The Dodgers keep building up their lead in the division, this time surviving a nice pitchers duel between Rich Hill (6IP, 5H, 3K) and Johnny Cueto, who was good, but gave up that one home run to Justin Turner, costing his team the game.
