Matt Moore

The San Francisco Giants ride a one-hitter from Matt Moore to shutout the Los Angeles Dodgers, while things continue to be interesting in AL East, as the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox all lose their games, while the Cleveland Indians get surprisingly shutout by the surging Texas Rangers, enjoying a big day from Cole Hamels, and home runs by Adrian Beltre and Rougned Odor.

Detroit Tigers 8  Minnesota Twins 5: The Tigers scored 8 runs before the Twins got anything going, including a three-run homer by James McCann, while Daniel Norris earned the win with a solid 6-inning performance.

Boston Red Sox 1  Tampa Bay Rays 2: Not a loss the Red Sox can afford in this race, unable to get things going against Jake Odorizzi, while Brad Miller and Mikie Mahtook got the offense going.

Baltimore Orioles 0  Washington Nationals 4: A missed opportunity for the Orioles to improve their AL East position, while the Nats stop the losing streak, getting a two-hit, 10-k performance from Max Scherzer, while Jayson Werth (home run), Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy took care of the runs.

Los Angeles Angels 6  Toronto Blue Jays 3: Jered Weaver had one of his better performances, while Albert Pujols, having a very good second half of the season, made it to 100 RBIs for the 13th time of his career, while Mike Trout picked up 4, with two singles that each scored a couple of runs.

Kansas City Royals 5  Miami Marlins 2: The Royals keep winning after a single setback, getting a home run from Yunel Escobar and an RBI double from him too, keeping themselves in the race for the playoff spot, against all odds considering where they were three weeks ago.

New York Mets 10  St. Louis Cardinals 6: A rough start for Adam Wainwright (7 runs), while Seth Lugo earned a win for the Mets, that included Alejandro De Aza hitting a three-run homer and finishing with 5 RBIs, helping James Loney, who had 3 hits and 3 runs.

Cleveland Indians 0  Texas Rangers 9: Cole Hamels shutout the Rangers, giving up only two hits while striking out 8 in 8 innings. The Rangers had three players hitting home runs for them, including Adrian Beltre and Rougned Odor, his 24th of the season.

Seattle Mariners 6  Chicago White Sox 7: The Mariners had a 6-3 lead heading into the 7th, with Tim Anderson kicking things off with a ground rule double RBI, followed by Todd Frazier finishing the job, hitting two singles, including a walk-off winner in the 9th.

Pittsburgh Pirates 3  Milwaukee Brewers 2: The Pirates ended a nine-game losing streak in Milwaukee, thanks to Andrew McCutchen hitting a RBI single in the 10th inning for the win.

Atlanta Braves 3  Arizona Diamondbacks 1: The Braves enjoy a two hit performance from Matt Wisler in 8 innings, getting early RBIs from Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis.

San Francisco Giants 4  Los Angeles Dodgers 0: Matt Moore was one out away from a no-hitter, giving up one hit in 8.2 innings to get his first earned win for the Giants, as a Brandon Belt RBI single and a Joe Panik two-run homer provided most of the offense as the Giants narrowed the distance from the NL West leaders.
