Everyone in the NL West won, including the Los Angeles Dodgers with a one-run win over the Chicago Cubs, while the San Francisco Giants enjoyed two home runs from Joe Panik while destroying the Atlanta Braves. In the AL East, the Baltimore Orioles shutout the New York Yankees and got home run number 40 this season from Mark Trumbo, and the Toronto Blue Jays took advantage of the Boston Red Sox losing to open up a lead from second, carried by three home runs from Josh Donaldson.

Baltimore Orioles 5  New York Yankees 0: The Orioles get closer to the 2nd place Red Sox with the shutout win, as Kevin Gausman struck out 9 in his 7-inning start, while Mark Trumbo hit his 40th home run of the season, a three-run homer that ruined what was a good day for C.C. Sabathia up to that point.

Minnesota Twins 6  Toronto Blue Jays 9: A third straight win for the Blue Jays, as they open a two game lead in the AL East. Josh Donaldson hit three home runs (33 this season) to finish with 4 RBIs, including the two that put the Blue Jays in the lead after a good start for the Twins.

Los Angeles Angels 5  Detroit Tigers 0: Tyler Skaggs gave up only two hits in his start as the Tigers got shutout, and Jefry Marte finished with 3 RBIs, including a two-run homer against his former team.

Philadelphia Phillies 5  New York Mets 1: The Mets keep picking up injuries instead of wins, while the Phillies got a couple of RBIs from A.J. Ellis and two hits, including one to drive a run, by Jimmy Paredes.

San Diego Padres 3  Miami Marlins 1: The Padres defense, notching six double plays, helped Luis Perdomo pitch a complete game with only 99 pitches, while more offense from Ryan Schimpf dealt the Marlins their second straight loss.

Colorado Rockies 5  Washington Nationals 3: Nolan Arenado hit an RBI single followed by a two run homer to set the pace in another win for the Rockies over the Nationals, holding the NL East leaders to only 6 hits, with their three solo home runs not enough in this case.

Seattle Mariners 1  Chicago White Sox 4: The Mariners are fading quickly, with an offense that finished just 0-for-7 with runners in scoring positions. Melky Cabrera had two extra base hits and an RBI, and a Jose Abreu sac fly pushed him to 73 RBIs this season.

Pittsburgh Pirates 3  Milwaukee Brewers 1: The Pirates win their 4th in a row and 8th straight on the road, behind another solid start from Ivan Nova, and three solo home runs, including number 20 of the season for Gregory Polanco.

Tampa Bay Rays 10  Houston Astros 4: Chris Archer wasn’t perfect, but he did strike out 10 while the Rays had an easy day at the plate, getting 15 hits, three of them home runs, led by Corey Dickerson with 2-for-4 and 3 RBIs.

Oakland Athletics 7  St. Louis Cardinals 4: Andrew Triggs struck out 8 as he earned his first career win, with the help of home runs by Khris Davis (34 this season) and Stephen Vogt.

Cleveland Indians 1  Texas Rangers 2: Finally, more of a pitcher’s game in this series, as the Rangers take 3-of-4, getting a good day from Danny Holland, and not letting the hot hand of Danny Salazar stop them, with Ian Desmond and Jonathan Lucroy hitting 3rd and 4th inning RBI singles to lift them to victory.

Atlanta Braves 4  San Francisco Giants 13: The Giants continue with their inconsistency, this time on the better side of it, hitting four home runs while trying to keep up with the Dodgers. Joe Panik hit two home runs and Eduardo Nunez, who has been improving lately after a rough start in the NL, hit his second for the team.

Chicago Cubs 0  Los Angeles Dodgers 1: The Dodgers hold the Cubs to only 4 hits while Kenley Jansen picked up save number 39. The Cubs held the Dodgers to just 4 hits too, but Adrian Gonzalez grounding into fielder’s choice was enough for Andrew Toles to score.

Cincinnati Reds 2  Arizona Diamondbacks 11: The Diamondbacks win number 55 of their awful season, getting a three-run homer from Yasmany Tomas (number 27 this season), and four RBIs from Welington Castillo.

Kansas City Royals 10  Boston Red Sox 4: The Royals keep the pressure on the wild card teams while exposing the bullpen problems the Red Sox are having, scoring 8 runs in the 6th inning after trailing 4-2 going in. Eduardo Rodriguez got the loss for Boston, but it was Matt Barnes coming in for him that really lost the game, not managing a single out, giving up 5 runs in a 15-pitch performance.
