A day of home runs and late wins, as the Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates with an impressive 13th inning comeback, while the New York Mets improve their NL East and Wild Card situation with a walk off win over the Miami Marlins thanks to Yoenis Cespedes. The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles to extend their lead in the AL East, while the Boston Red Sox keep up with another offensive explosion. The hottest teams in Baseball kept on winning, as the Kansas City Royals were too much for the New York Yankees, and the Houston Astros shutout the Oakland A’s.

Toronto Blue Jays 5  Baltimore Orioles 1: The division lead is getting away from the Orioles, unable to deal with the pitching of Marco Estrada, while giving up another home run to Josh Donaldson, and Jose Bautista also got one, his 16th of the season.

Washington Nationals 4  Philadelphia Phillies 0: Tanner Roark gets the 7-inning shutout win while allowing 4 hits, relying on the offense of Jayson Werth (19th home run) and Anthony Rendon.

Tampa Bay Rays 4  Boston Red Sox 9: Rick Porcello, giving up 3 runs but striking out 7 in 7, is the first pitcher to reach 18 wins this season. He relied on an offense with a home run from Mookie Betts (30 this season), while Brock Holt got himself 3 hits and a couple of RBIs.

Minnesota Twins 0  Cleveland Indians 1: Both teams struggled to get hits and especially runs, but in the end, the Indians won thanks to Jason Kipnis hitting a single in the 10th inning, helping Chris Gimenez reach home for the walk off win.

Chicago White Sox 3  Detroit Tigers 4: The Tigers are only one game behind the wild card ticket with their late win over the White Sox, getting an 8th winning home run from Jarrod Saltalamacchia, a two-run homer to turn the game around, before K-Rod got his 37th save of the season.

Miami Marlins 1  New York Mets 2: Yoenis Cespedes keeps the Mets alive and now tied with the Marlins at 67-64 with a 10th inning walk off home run, getting it done with 2 outs, following a solid 10th inning pitching appearance by Josh Smoker, striking out 2 batters.

St. Louis Cardinals 6  Milwaukee Brewers 5: The Cardinals hold on to their wild card spot thanks to a bad throw by Jonathan Villar, allowing the Cards to score a run in the 9th (Stephen Piscotty) off of that mistake. Jedd Gyorko hit his 23rd home run of the season for the Cards.

Mariners 3  Rangers 6: The Mariners are now 3 games behind the wild card ticket, struggling with Yu Darvish’s pitching, striking out 9 in 6 innings. Carlos Beltran had a big day with a home run and an RBI double, while Hisashi Iwakuma was pulled off after only 3 innings.

Cubs 8  Pirates 7: A huge comeback win for the Cubs, finishing a crazy game with two runs in the 13th inning (Anthony Rizzo and Miguel Montero) after falling behind to a Josh Harrison sacrifice fly. They also hit two home runs (Willson Contreras and Jorge Soler) in the 8th and 9th inning to force extra innings.

Athletics 0  Astros 6: The Astros, along with the Royals, are the hottest teams in Baseball right now, winning 8 of their last 10. Joe Musgrove led the shutout pitching performance with 7 k’s in 5.1 innings while allowing 3 hits. Jose Altuve hit a home run, and Alex Bregman got two RBIs with a single.

New York Yankees 5  Kansas City Royals 8: Nothing stands in the Royals way as they’re just two games behind the 2nd wild card spot, scoring 3 runs in the 1st, and then exploding with 5 more in the 7th to finish off the game, getting a strong start from Dillon Gee (6IP, 4 hits, 4 k’s), and a 3-run home run from Alcides Escobar.

Los Angeles Dodgers 1  Colorado Rockies 8: The Dodgers lose a bit of steam but remain on top of the NL West, unable to contend with Jon Gray’s pitching (8 strikeouts), or the usually hot bats of the Rockies, including a two-run homer by Nick Hundley.

Cincinnati Reds 2  Los Angeles Angels 9: Mike Trout and Albert Pujols hit back to back home runs in the 1st inning, as Pujols moved up to 9th on the all-time list. The Angels hit 3 more home runs on the way to the win. Who remembers the game opened with Joey Votto hitting a two-run homer?
