The New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays, which combined with the Boston Red Sox losing to the San Diego Padres really helped out the Baltimore Orioles, beating up the Tampa Bay Rays with a two-hitter from Ubaldo Jimenez, moving up in the AL East and maintaining their hold on the 2nd slot in the AL Wild Card Standings. The St. Louis Cardinals got back to winning, which means they’re holding off the New York Mets in the NL Wild Card race, while the San Francisco Giants lose their 4th in a row, getting further and further away from the Los Angeles Dodgers on top of the NL West.

Chicago Cubs 7  Milwaukee Brewers 2: Another great game for Kyle Hendricks, with his ERA down to 2.07 after giving up one run in six innings. As for offense, Chris Coghlan got 3 RBIs off of two hits, as the Cubs scored their 7 runs in between Chris Carter and Ryan Braun Home runs.

Toronto Blue Jays 3  New York Yankees 5: Good news for the Orioles with this Yankees win, riding 3 RBIs by Jacoby Ellsbury, including his 7th home run of the season. Masahiro Tanaka enjoyed the support, and Dellin Betances looked great with his 9th save of the season, flourishing since moving to the closer role.

New York Mets 5  Cincinnati Reds 0: The Mets win their third in a row to keep the pressure up on the Cardinals, with Bartolo Colon throwing for six innings in the shutout for his 13th win of the season. Kelly Johnson and Matt Reynolds helped him out with home runs.

Philadelphia Phillies 6  Miami Marlins 2: The Marlins drop their fourth in a row, taking a hit in their playoff chase, while Freddy Galvis shined with a two-run homer, and Jerad Eickhoff earned the win in a good season for him, that doesn’t show in the win-loss record.

Baltimore Orioles 7  Tampa Bay Rays 3: The Orioles obviously prefer to finish first and not have to go through the wild card one-game playoff, once again getting closer to the Blue Jays and Red Sox, as Ubaldo Jimenez threw a two-hitter in 9 innings, getting run support from Chris Davis with his 34th home run, and Jonathan Schoop with a couple of RBIs.

Kansas City Royals 11  Minnesota Twins 5: Another team trying to get into the wild card are the Royals. Home runs from Kendrys Morales and Eric Hosmer cancelled out the huge day Brian Dozier was having, hitting 3 home runs of his own.

St. Louis Cardinals 12  Pittsburgh Pirates 6: The Cardinals remain one game ahead of the Mets, while the Pirates continue to sink into the playoff-less abyss. Jedd Gyorko and Matt Adams hit home runs, but more than anyone it was Adam Wainwright, finishing with 3 RBIs off of his single in the 4th.

Los Angeles Angels 10  Oakland Athletics 7: The Angels have been pretty hot lately, although too late to really make a difference in this season. Kole Calhoun hit a home run and Albert Pujols made it to 110 RBIs with a couple in this game.

Atlanta Braves 4  Washington Nationals 6: The Nats should clone Max Scherzer, as good things happen to them when he’s on the mound. Trea Turner and Chris Heisey both hit home runs, splitting the six RBIs, as Mark Melancon almost let the win slip away by giving up two runs in the end.

Detroit Tigers 5  Chicago White Sox 3: Another good Chris Sale game (8 innings) goes to waste, as the White Sox implode in extra innings. Justin Upton hit a 3-run homer to make it a second consecutive game of him coming up with the winning hit. Miguel Cabrera had two home runs.

Texas Rangers 6  Seattle Mariners 14: Felix Hernandez didn’t have the best of starts, but he did earn the win, enjoying terrific run support from Robinson Cano (32 home runs) and Franklin Gutierrez with 3 hits and 4 RBIs.

San Francisco Giants 0  Colorado Rockies 6: The Giants fall to four games behind the Dodgers, getting shut down by Chad Bettis, allowing only two hits while striking out 7 in nine innings. Carlos Gonzalez hit his 25th home run of the season, a grand slam homer that helped the Rockies move up to 5-0 in the 3rd.

Boston Red Sox 1  San Diego Padres 2: A second straight loss for the Red Sox brings the Tigers and Orioles closer to them, with 11 batters fanned by Edwin Jackson, as Drew Pomeranz was on the mound for another loss, this time against his former team.

Houston Astros 6  Cleveland Indians 2: Another playoff hopeful, the Astros got going with a two-run homer by Alex Bregman and never looked back, holding the Indians to 7 hits the entire game.

Arizona Diamondbacks 2  Los Angeles Dodgers 10: Another easy win for the Dodgers, giving Zack Greinke a rough return, as he didn’t make it out of the 5th inning, allowing 8 runs by the time he was pulled off. Adrian Gonzalez, Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Justin Turner and Yasmani Grandal all hit home runs, while Kenta Maeda struck out 8 in 6.1 innings of work.
