One massive upset, Central Michigan winning (illegally) against Oklahoma State, kept most meme makers busy in week 2 of the college football season. TCU losing at home to Arkansas had a certain allure, and so did Brandon Harris getting benched by Les Miles in the LSU game. Ray-Ray McCloud of Clemson also made a name for himself. The wrong kind of name.
The funny thing about Oklahoma State’s loss, only their second non-conference home loss since 2009? The referees should have ended the game on OSU’s drive. No time on the clock, penalty, game over. However, the Chippewas were given one more chances. Hail Mary, lateral, and Cooper Rush making himself famous by getting in the end zone.
TCU lost at home too. It wasn’t to a G5 school but to Arkansas, and it did happen in double overtime, but a home loss is a home loss, and for the #15 ranked team with hopes of winning the Big 12 and going to the playoffs, this was a big blow.
LSU did win their game against the unimpressive Jacksonville State. However, Brandon Harris might have had his last chance to impress Les Miles, getting benched after completing just 1-of-4 throws for 8 yards.
And maybe the “star” this week was Ray-Ray McCloud of Clemson, who struggled against Troy of all teams. He was about to return a punt 75 yards for a touchdown, but dropped the ball just before crossing the goal line out of arrogance and complacency. After a review, it became Troy ball, the Tigers’ six points stripped from the scoreboard.
