The AL East standings mayhem continues, due to the New York Yankees shutting out the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Toronto Blue Jays losing and the Baltimore Orioles beating the Boston Red Sox, keeping the Yankees just behind the last two in the wild card standings. In the National League wild card standings the San Francisco Giants keep messing up, having almost no lead at all over the New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals, who beat the Chicago Cubs.

Los Angeles Dodgers 0  New York Yankees 3: The Yankees refuse to go away, back to two games behind the wild card spot with this shutout win, which came thanks to the bullpen and bench: Adam Warren got the win, and home runs from Jacoby Ellsbury, Didi Gregorius and Gary Sanchez took care of offense.

New York Mets 4  Washington Nationals 3: The Mets hand on to their wild card playoff spot in this NL East battle. Two RBI singles by the Nats in the 9th sent the game into extra innings, but a 10th inning home run by T.J. Rivera won it for the Mets, keeping them ahead of the Cardinals.

Pittsburgh Pirates 5  Philadelphia Phillies 3: The Phillies had the lead in the 9th, as Jeanmar Gomez was trying to close. But Sean Rodriguez hit a 3-run homer out of nowhere, winning the game for the Bucs.

Tampa Bay Rays 6  Toronto Blue Jays 2: Losing means the Blue Jays are not only 2nd in the AL East, but tied with the Orioles at 79-65. Drew Smyly earned the win, which kicked off with a 3-run homer by Alexei Ramirez, helped out by Steven Souza Jr. with a home run of his own, and 3 runs in the game overall.

Baltimore Orioles 6  Boston Red Sox 3: The Orioles refuse to led the Red Sox escape the division, with early home runs from J.J. Hardy and Nolan Reimold giving them a 5-run cushion which proved to be enough.

Minnesota Twins 8  Detroit Tigers 1: The Tigers fall to 2 games behind the wild card spots, struggling against 8 innings of Kyle Gibson’s pitching, while Jorge Polanco with a home run and 4 RBIs caused them the most damage.

Miami Marlins 7  Atlanta Braves 5: Five games behind the Mets, it’s probably too late for the Marlins. Ichiro Suzuki hit an RBI single and finished with 2 runs thanks to a triple, while Christian Yelich made it to 91 RBIs this season with a couple in this game.

Milwaukee Brewers 4  Cincinnati Reds 6: Dan Straily had a good game, allowing only 3 hits in 8 innings while striking out 8 as well. Joey Votto hit a solo home to start the game and an RBI single to tie things, leading a nice Reds run to win it.

Oakland Athletics 5  Kansas City Royals 4: Maybe the last nail in the playoff hopes coffin for the Royals, as the A’s score 4 runs in the 8th to come from behind and win it, with a home run by Ryon Healy and a pinch-hit double from Yonder Alonso getting the job done.

Cleveland Indians 1  Chicago White Sox 8: Jose Quintana pitched well in another big win for the White Sox over the Indians, exploding in the 6th inning with 7 runs after the game was tied. Jose Abreu, Todd Frazier and Carlos Sanchez had 2 RBIs each.

Texas Rangers 3  Houston Astros 2: The Rangers came from a 1-run deficit in the ninth to win the game, getting a tying RBI single from Elvis Andrus, and the winning RBI from Jurickson Profar.

Chicago Cubs 2  St. Louis Cardinals 4: The Cardinals keep the pace with the Mets, still sitting 0.5 games behind them, with home runs from Brandon Moss and Aledmys Diaz helping them dispatch the Cubs, both of them two-run homers.

Colorado Rockies 4  Arizona Diamondbacks 11: Bad pitching and plenty of hitting in this series, as usual. This time, Jean Segura stood out for the Diamondbacks with a couple of home runs, helped with another by Brandon Drury.

Seattle Mariners 8  Los Angeles Angels 0: The seventh straight win for the Mariners, putting them 2.5 games behind. Taijuan Walker throws a terrific and surprising 3-hitter to help out Nelson Cruz, Norichika Aoki and Seth Smith with the big offense.

San Diego Padres 6  San Francisco Giants 4: The Giants are really making things complicated for themselves, blowing a 3-1 lead in the 9th inning, as Ryan Schimpf hit a 3-run homer to take the lead and put the Giants only one game over the 3rd placed Cardinals in the wild card standings.
