History repeats itself, and the memes make fun of those on the losing end of it: Jeurys Familia and the New York Mets choking when it matters the most, Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants turning it up a notch in an even year postseason.
Bumgarner was unhittable in the 2014 postseason, and pitched a complete game in the 3-0 wild card win over the Mets, being close to untouchable once more. Familia on the other hand, the same Familia who messed up big time in the World Series last year, gave up two hits and a walk in the ninth inning, one of them a 3-run homer to Conor Gillaspie.
And to think that if the Dodgers, already clinching the division by the time for their final series against the Giants, could have prevented the Giants from making it into the playoffs. Maybe all of Baseball, or at least the teams making it to the postseason, would have let out a sigh of relief.
And now, the Giants move on to play against the Chicago Cubs, who actually match up better against them than the Mets. They might be the only team happy about the Giants beating the Mets, although this is an even year, these are the Giants and the Cubs, until proven otherwise, are the Cubs.
