One pennant is won, and it belongs to the Cleveland Indians, shutting out the Toronto Blue Jays again, making it to the world series, and leaving plenty of memes to make fun of Jose Bautista behind.
Why Bautista? Well, he’s always been the most outspoken and flashy of the Blue Jays players in front of the media and on the field, and tried trash talking the Indians before the game. It didn’t work, as Cleveland’s pitching made Toronto looked quite incapable and irrelevant, which is true for most of the games in this series.
The Blue Jays couldn’t get anything done against a rookie pitcher with almost zero experience, and although they did get hits against the fearsome Indians bullpen, no runs were scored, as a group of supposedly fearsome and experienced hitters enter an offseason when at least two major pieces can leave, Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion.
As for the Indians, they carry on the weird trend of teams from the city of Cleveland doing well. The Cavaliers made two consecutive NBA finals, winning the championship last year. The Indians are now in the world series for the first time since 1997. Everyone is waiting for the Browns to catch up. Meanwhile, the worst team in the NFL still hasn’t won a game this season.
