NFL Scores & Standings Week 7

This weird season continued its strange ways in week 7 as well, as the Minnesota Vikings lost for the first time this season, succumbing to Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles. The New England Patriots easily dispatched the Roethlisberger-less Pittsburgh Steelers, the San Diego Chargers came back from 17-points down to beat the Atlanta Falcons in the best game of 2016 so far, while the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals failed to score a touchdown in 75 minutes of football, giving us the first tie of the season in the worst way possible.

Chicago Bears (1-6) 10  Green Bay Packers (4-2) 26: The dominance of the Packers against Chicago continues, especially after Brian Hoyer was injured and Matt Barkley had to come on. Aaron Rodgers hit 3 touchdown passes and threw for 326 yards, but the two-time MVP throwing over 50 passes a game each time isn’t the best thing for Green Bay.

New York Giants (4-3) 17  Los Angeles Rams (3-4) 10: The Rams started the game with 10 points in the first quarter, but that was it. Case Keenum threw four interceptions, Todd Gurley had another bad game, and the Giants looked bad on offense, but didn’t need to be better in a bad London game.

New Orleans Saints (1-2) 21  Kansas City Chiefs (4-2) 27: The Chiefs improve to 3-0 at home, overcoming an early connection between Brees  and Cooks with three consecutive touchdowns: Two of them by Alex Smith finding someone in the end zone, the other off an interception. The Saints managed to make it a 3-point game again late in the fourth, but a Cairo Santos field goal in the final minute completed the job.

Indianapolis Colts (3-4) 34  Tennessee Titans (3-4) 26: The duel between Mariota and Andrew Luck went completely in Luck’s favor, both in the box score and the final score. Luck threw 3 touchdown passes, and a Robert Mathis fumble return for a touchdown with 1:47 to go made sure the Titans won’t get their one final chance to tie or win the game.

Minnesota Vikings (5-1) 10  Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) 21: The Vikings lose their first game of the season, as Sam Bradford threw his first interception, against his former team of all opponents possible. This wasn’t the best of days for Carson Wentz with a touchdown pass and two interceptions thrown, as both teams turned the ball over four times, and Philly winning with just 239 yards, leading 21-3 before the Vikings got a meaningless touchdown.

Cleveland Browns (0-7) 17  Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) 31: The Bengals actually fell behind in the second quarter, but the Browns moving from Cody Kessler to Kevin Hogan due to an injury in a terrible season for them, couldn’t keep up. Andy Dalton finished with 308 yards and two touchdown passes, while they gained 271 yards on the ground, including 168 by Jeremy Hill.

Washington Redskins (4-3) 17  Detroit Lions (4-3) 20: The Lions weird (good weird) season continues, handing the Redskins their first loss after four straight wins. Kirk Cousins running for a touchdown with 1:05 left in the game seemed to put it away in the Redskins favor, but Matthew Stafford in another fantastic game found Anquan Boldin for an 18-yard touchdown, leaving Washington with 16 seconds to try and do something, which they couldn’t.

Oakland Raiders (5-2) 33  Jacksonville Jaguars (2-4) 16: The Raiders and the Jags put up the same yardage (344), but Jacksonville turned the ball over 3 times, the Raiders didn’t turn the ball over at all. Latavius Murray returned to run into the end zone twice while Derek Carr connected with Michael Crabtree for another touchdown and the fifth win this season.

Buffalo Bills (4-3) 25  Miami Dolphins (3-4) 28: The Dolphins suddenly have a winning streak while stopping that of the Bills. Moving to a running-based offense has worked wonders for them, as Jay Ajayi ran for 214 yards, his second consecutive 200+ game on the ground. A 66-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Tannehill to Kenny Stills with 2:24 to go put the Dolphins up by 11, finishing the game.

Baltimore Ravens (3-4) 16  New York Jets (2-5) 24: While the Ravens lose their fourth in a row and are officially in panic mode, the Jets saw Geno Smith get injured, which forced them to put Ryan Fitzpatrick back in the game. He played angry, and it worked, throwing a touchdown pass and no interceptions for once, while Matt Forte finished with 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3) 34  San Francisco 49ers (1-6) 17: The 49ers continue to lose and look terrible doing so, giving up 513 yards of offense, including 3 touchdown passes to Jameis Winston and 154 rushing yards to Jacquizz Rodgers. Colin Kaepernick? He completed less than 50% of his throws for one touchdown and an interception, while rushing for 84 yards, but he’s not the answer to the 49ers problems.

chargers-love

San Diego Chargers (3-4) 33  Atlanta Falcons (4-3) 30: Maybe the best game we’ve seen all season, as the Chargers come back from 17-point down to force overtime and win on a 42-yard field goal by Josh Lambo. Both Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers threw one touchdown pass and one interception, but the Falcons offense shutting down in the second half and scoring just 3 points doomed them, although the refs have to do something about defenders committing uncalled pass interference on Julio Jones all the time.

New England Patriots (6-1) 27  Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3) 16: With Landry Jones, the Steelers tried to keep up, but their defense just couldn’t slow down LeGarrette Blount or the Tom Brady-Rob Gronkowski connection, as the Patriots seem like on a definite route to winning home field advantage through the AFC playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks (4-1-1) 6  Arizona Cardinals (3-3-1) 6: The exact opposite of the Chargers-Falcons game, ending in overtime with a missed field goal by Steven Hauschka and 0 touchdowns in a game everyone wishes will be forgotten as soon as possible.
