So we have our first team in the Champions League Final. Actually we have two, after Schalke’s amazing 5-2 victory at the San Siro, and that’s before the second legs, but lets focus on Real Madrid and their fantastic second half against a 10 men Tottenham side, clearly overmatched, beating the Londoners 4-0.

It didn’t look that easy in the first half, as Real finished with a 1-0 lead, getting the opener after only four minutes as Adebayor took advantage of Jenas marking him during a corner. Peter Crouch got booked twice with two reckless and needless slides, getting the red card after 15 minutes, pretty much ending Spurs’ chance to get something out of the game.

Gareth Bale was able to pose a threat on maybe two occasions but like his teammates, didn’t really show up for the second half as the home side blitzed the poor visitors.

Any hope that Tottenham had during the half time break faded very quickly after Adebayor scored his second goal, again with his head, as the Tottenham defense fell asleep, leaving the Togolese striker wide open in the middle of the box.

Angel di Maria added a beautiful strike from the edge of the box in the 72nd minute and Cristiano Ronaldo got his 5th goal in the competition this season, finishing off a wonderful Kaka cross with a volley. Gomes, who did well most of the match, should have done more with the fourth goal, but at that point it didn’t really matter anymore. Tottenham have the second leg to leave the 2010-2011 Champions League with a better taste than they felt at the end of their Bernabeu encounter.

Tottenham failed to score again. Some would say that with their target man sent off so quickly the didn’t stand a chance but Redknapp has to face the facts – Spurs are struggling since their win over Milan at the San Siro. Maybe he gambled a bit with his lineup and should have played a tad more defensively, giving up on one of his more attacking midfielders.

Mourinho didn’t get a 100% Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo, but got enough out of them to form a dominant display, one of Real’s finest recently. They shot 36 times at goal, many of them blocked by Michael Dawson who was much better than the scoreline suggests.

Bottom Line – Real and Mourinho can relax about their North London and focus on whatever is left from their title chase. Not much, the team and players have one less thing to worry about now, at least for a short while.
