The New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles showed the AL East’s dominance over Chicago teams, with narrow wins against the Cubs and White Sox. The Washington Nationals got special offensive assistance from Stephen Strasburg, while the Houston Astros needed a very late hit by Carlos Correa to keep up their winning streak going.

Brett Gardner

New York Yankees 3  Chicago Cubs 2: The Cubs held the lead until the 9th inning, when Brett Gardner hit a 2-out, 3-run homer to win the game, with Aroldis Chapman closing the win with two strikeouts against the team he helped win the World Series.

Chicago White Sox 2  Baltimore Orioles 4: Wade Miley got hit with 2 line drives and had to leave the game before the end of the first inning, but the Orioles still pulled off the win over the White Sox, as a standout performance by Chris Davis, including his 4th home run of the season, helped pull it off.

Washington Nationals 4  Philadelphia Phillies 2: Stephen Strasburg hit a home run while sticking around for 5.2 innings (striking out 5). Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon helped out with offense too, hitting a home run each. For Zimmerman, it was home run number 12 this season.

Milwaukee Brewers 0  Pittsburgh Pirates 4: Josh Bell hit his 5th home run of the season, sending this one into the Allegheny River, while Chad Kuhl and Wade LeBlanc (who got the win) helped shut out the Brewers, finishing with just 7 hits in 34 at-bats.

Miami Marlins 7  New York Mets 8: An offense happy day at Citi Field ended with the Mets capping off a huge comeback against the Marlins, returning from 6-runs down. T.J. Rivera stood out with a home run to open the game and a 2-RBI double to tie it, before a walk with the bases loaded gave the Mets the win.

Toronto Blue Jays 8 Tampa Bay Rays 4: The Blue Jays continue to try and climb out of the AL East cellar, enjoying two home runs from Kendrys Morales (6 this season). Justin Smoak also hit a home run, finishing with a couple of RBIs.

St. Louis Cardinals 10  Atlanta Braves 0: Lance Lynn led the shutout of the Braves from the mound, while the offense came from Matt Carpenter (hitting home run number 5) and Aledmys Diaz, hitting 4-for-4 and finishing with 3 RBIs.

Joe Mauer

Boston Red Sox 3  Minnesota Twins 4: Joe Mauer hit a 2-out home run in the 9th inning to provide the Twins with the walk off win against Boston, helping Brandon Kintzler pick up the win despite blowing the lead in the top of the 9th.

Cleveland Indians 1  Kansas City Royals 3: The Indians finish with just 4 hits, struggling to get around Jason Hammel or anyone else on the Royals bullpen. Eric Hosmer hit a home run, his third of the season.

San Francisco Giants 3  Cincinnati Reds 13: Matt Cain got all shook up by the Reds, giving up 9 runs, with Jose Peraza (4 RBIs) and Eugenio Suarez (3 RBIs) standing out in the impressive win. 40-year old Bronson Arroyo picked up his 3rd win of the season for the Reds with just under 6 innings of work.

Arizona Diamondbacks 6  Colorado Rockies 3: Zack Greinke struck out 7 in 7 innings to help the Diamondbacks get the win in Colorado, while Paul Goldschmidt enjoyed the Coor’s Field environment to hit a couple of home runs, making it to 7 this season.

Detroit Tigers 7  Oakland Athletics 2: Michael Fulmer pulls off a strong 8-inning performance that includes 9 strikeouts. Jim Adduci did most of the work on offense with 3 RBIs, getting help from Victor Martinez with two RBIs.

Houston Astros 7  Los Angeles Angels 6: The Astros blow a 4-run lead in the 9th inning only to get the win back on a Carlos Correa single in the 10th, before Chris Devenski finished the job from the mound. Earlier, Albert Pujols hit his 4th home run of the season.

Los Angeles Dodgers 8  San Diego Padres 2: A big day for rookie Cody Bellinger as he hit 2 home runs, finishing with 4 RBIs, helping the Dodgers run wild against the Padres once again. Kenta Maeda struck out 8 in 5 innings, but didn’t get the win.

Texas Rangers 3  Seattle Mariners 1: After 13 innings, a two-run homer from Rougned Odor (also hit a home run in the previous game) gave the Rangers a much needed win against the inconsistent Mariners, with Emilio Pagan, who probably stayed on the mound a bit more than he should have, giving up the crucial, losing home run.
