The Boston Red Sox picked up a tough win in Milwaukee after a 3-run homer by Mookie Betts in the final innings, while the Houston Astros enjoyed a terrific day from Dallas Keuchel on the mound to beat the New York Yankees.
Boston Red Sox 4 Milwaukee Brewers 1: Mookie Betts hitting a 3-run homer in the 9th made the difference in this game, as his 5th homer of the season drove in Christian Vasquez and Deven Marrero too. Craig Kimbrel did an excellent job of closing out the game.
Kansas City Royals 6 Tampa Bay Rays 0: The Royals shutout the Rays with Jason Vargas throwing a 3-hitter through 7 innings (his ERA is down to 1.01 now), while the offense of Salvador Perez (2 RBIs) and Whit Merrifield (3rd home run of the season) brought the points.
Houston Astros 3 New York Yankees 2: The Astros win their 4th in a row as Jake Marisnick closed out the game with a perfect throw from left field to take out Jacoby Ellsbury for the final out of the game. Dallas Keuchel struck out 9 in 6 innings, Carlos Correa hit his 5th home run of the season.
Seattle Mariners 2 Toronto Blue Jays 7: The Blue Jays pick up their 14th win of the season as they try to make up for lost games, getting big home runs from Steve Pearce and Justin Smoak, while Marco Estrada stuck out 8 in his 6-inning performance.
San Diego Padres 2 Texas Rangers 5: Mike Napoli hit a couple of home runs for the Rangers (7 this season), including a 3-run homer in the 9th as the Rangers came back from 2 runs down entering the 8th. Sam Dyson did give up 2 hits in the ninth inning, but still picked up the win.
Minnesota Twins 7 Chicago White Sox 6: A big day for Eduardo Escobar, hitting a 3-run home with 2 outs and overall picking up 4 RBIs, while Brian Dozier and Miguel Sano helped out with home runs of their own. The Twins built a quick 6-0 lead which they managed to hang on to, just barely.
Los Angeles Dodgers 7 Colorado Rockies 10: The Rockies opened a 10-0 lead by the end of the 4th inning and managed to hang on to it despite the Dodgers picking up steam, a bit too late. Carlos Gonzalez stood out with 3 RBIs, Nolan Arenado and Ian Desmond each added a couple of RBIs.
Pittsburgh Pirates 1 Arizona Diamondbacks 2: Zack Greinke was incredible in his 8-inning performance, giving up only 1 hit while striking out 11 batters. Jake Lamb with an RBI picked up his 24th RBI of the season.
Detroit Tigers 7 Los Angeles Angels 1: A big day for Tigers hitting and pitching, as Michael Fulmer allowed only 3 hits while striking out 7 in 7 innings. Offense came from Justin Upton and Andrew Romine, hitting a solo home run each.
Cincinnati Reds 3 San Francisco Giants 2: In the 6th innings, a Joey Votto single tied the game. In the 8th inning, it was Zack Cozart, getting his second hit of the game, that drove in the winning run, before Raisel Iglesias sealed the deal from the mound.
