In a day with two delayed games, the Chicago Cubs won their fourth consecutive win with a power display over the sinking San Francisco Giants. Meanwhile, the Houston Astros needed some clutch hitting from Jake Marisnick to beat the Detroit Tigers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers relied on their pitchers for offense too in a win against the St. Louis Cardinals.

San Francisco Giants 1  Chicago Cubs 5: The Cubs seem to be hitting their stride, winning their third in a row while the Giants keep sinking. Eddie Butler and Mike Montgomery starred on the mound in a dual 9-inning effort, while the home runs from Kris Bryant (11th this season), Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist took care of offense.

Seattle Mariners 4  Washington Nationals 2: Despite Ariel Miranda struggling in his 5-inning start, he picked up a win thanks to Nelson Cruz sending a 3-run bomb into the stands, as the Mariners try to pry themselves out of the AL West bottom.

Pittsburgh Pirates 9  Atlanta Braves 4: The Pirates win their second game in a row behind some impressive offense from Adam Frazier (3-run homer), Francisco Cervelli and Jordy Mercer, who both finished with a couple of RBIs. Ivan Nova did give up 10 hits and 4 runs, but put in a 8.1 inning performance which ended up being good enough.

Colorado Rockies 1  Philadelphia Phillies 2: Vince Velasquez put in a good performance with 7 strikeouts in 5 innings, but the game winner was a Tommy Joseph single in the 11th inning, as the Phillies are now tied for worst in the NL East and not alone in that position.

Los Angeles Angels 0  Tampa Bay Rays 4: Matt Andriese puts in another strong performance with 8 innings of shutout pitching. Colby Rasmus was in charge of all 4 RBIs with two hits, one in the 1st inning and the other in the 5th.

Texas Rangers 2  Boston Red Sox 6: The Red Sox win their 4th in a row, with Drew Pomeranz giving up 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out an impressive 11. Xander Bogaerts and Deven Marrero both hit their debut home runs of the season.

San Diego Padres 4  New York Mets 3: Dinelson Lamet looked solid in 6 innings of work, striking out 8, while the Mets continue to look bad on all fronts. Cory Spangenberg stood out with the opening RBI for the Padres, and then another one in the 9th to put the team 2 runs in front.

Arizona Diamondbacks 4  Milwaukee Brewers 0: Robbie Ray looked terrific, giving up 2 hits in 7 innings. Meanwhile home runs from Chris Owings and Gregor Blanco (first this season) took care of things on the offensive side.

Detroit Tigers 6  Houston Astros 7: Jake Marisnick hit a home run in the 8th inning to break the tie and win the game for the Astros. Marwin Gonzalez also hit a home run for the Astros, his 11th of the season.

St. Louis Cardinals 3  Los Angeles Dodgers 7: Hyun-Jin Ryu looked good in a 4-inning performance as a reliever to help the Dodgers overcome the pesky Cardinals. Chase Utley hit his first home run of the season, and Kenta Maeda, who also picked up the win off the mound, picked up a couple of RBIs.
