MLB Standings & Scores

The red hot Los Angeles Dodgers get by the Cleveland Indians despite a sluggish start, and their NL West rivals the Arizona Diamondbacks continue to amaze, this time locking down the Detroit Tigers. Another NL West team, the Colorado Rockies, beat up the Pittsburgh Pirates to get back to their winning ways.

Chicago Cubs 4  New York Mets 9: The Cubs had a good start but fell apart later on. A home run from Curtis Granderson in the 8th broke a 4-4 tie, followed by 4 runs scored by the Mets, including a big 3-run home run by Lucas Duda following Granderson’s big hit.

Oakland Athletics 6  Miami Marlins 11: Two bad teams put up plenty of runs in front of a half empty Marlins Park. Marcell Ozuna hit his 17th home run of the season and finished with 3 RBIs, as Dee Gordon and Christian Yelich picked up a couple of RBIs as well. Ryon Healy hit his 15th home run this season for the A’s.

Cincinnati Reds 2  San Diego Padres 4: The Padres completed the sweep of the lowly Reds, getting a solid day on the mound from Jhoulys Chacin in 7 innings of work, helped by Hunter Renfroe with a 2-run homer and 3 RBIs overall.

Kansas City Royals 7  San Francisco Giants 2: A big day for the Royals in the Bay Area with 3 home runs, including the 18th this season for Mike Moustakas, while the Giants sink to 15 games under .500.

Atlanta Braves 13  Washington Nationals 2: What a day for the Braves in D.C., getting Julio Teheran to give a solid performance for once in a shaky season, and especially plenty of offense from Brandon Phillips with 3 RBIs and the 4th home run this season for Kurt Suzuki.

Boston Red Sox 7  Philadelphia Phillies 3: Mookie Betts hit two home runs to get up to 11 this season, and after a shaky start from Brian Johnson on the mound, the Red Sox bullpen took care of business against the worst team in Baseball.

Ian Desmond

Colorado Rockies 5  Pittsburgh Pirates 1: The Rockies bats continue to work overtime out of Coor’s as well, this time getting a 2-run homer from Ian Desmond to anchor their offense around. German Marquez gave up 4 hits in 5 innings to pick up the win.

Tampa Bay Rays 6  Toronto Blue Jays 7: A big 8th inning seemed to signal a Blue Jays collapse late in the game, but Russell Martin hitting a home run off Jose Alvarado meant the Jays continue their quest to get something out of this season despite their awful start.

Los Angeles Dodgers 6  Cleveland Indians 4: Corey Kluber had a great start, but the follow up by Andrew Miller wasn’t as good, giving up a key home run to Enrique Hernandez in pinch hitting duty, helping the Dodgers blow the game open and pick up win number 41.

Dodgers Home Run

Arizona Diamondbacks 2  Detroit Tigers 1: The D-Backs scored two runs in the 1st inning, and then relied on Taijuan Walker, Randall Delgado and Fernando Rodney to keep the Tigers powerful bats calm and humble.

Baltimore Orioles 10  Chicago White Sox 6: The Orioles are trying to rebuild the momentum they lost in the South Side, enjoying a 2-out grand slam home run by Welington Castillo to make the difference, making Miguel Gonzalez’ performance on the mound for the Sox a bit more miserable.

Seattle Mariners 6  Minnesota Twins 4: Sam Gaviglio did strike out 5 in 5.1 innings but also gave up 4 runs. He still picked up the win for the Mariners, thanks to a 3-run homer by Mike Zunino and a solo shot by Mitch Haniger.

Texas Rangers 2  Houston Astros 13: The Astros continue to torment their state rivals, which included Derek Fisher hitting a home run on his MLB debut. Marwin Gonzalez, hitting .313 so far this season, led the Astros with 3 RBIs.

Milwaukee Brewers 7  St. Louis Cardinals 6: The Brewers build a 3.5 game lead over the Cards in the NL Central, almost letting a big 6-run lead slip away. An RBI single from Hernan Perez in the 7th stopped the Cardinals momentum, and the closing work of Corey Knebel did the rest.

New York Yankees 5  Los Angeles Angels 7: Despite 4 unanswered scored runs in the 1st inning, the Yankees struggled to get things going later on, finally falling behind for good in the 7th inning after a 2-run homer by Andrelton Simmons, his 7th of the season.
