Premier League: Manchester United Crush Everton 4-0

Antonio Valencia

After dropping points for the first time this season, Manchester United and Jose Mourinho went back to their impressive form, beating Everton 4-0 thanks to a late blitz that made the match look more one sided than it actually was, as an early Antonio Valencia goal was complemented with strikes from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and a Anthony Martial penalty.

Wayne Rooney made his first appearance at the Old Trafford since leaving United, and it was after his substitution in the 81st minute (to a standing ovation from the home & away fans) that things fell apart for Everton. The Toffees have now lost four consecutive matches, conceding 12 goals and not scoring a single one.

Valencia opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a terrific volley from outside the box, not something you see every day from the Ecuadorian winger-turned-right back.

From there it was a long wait until the 83rd minute, when Mkhitaryan, now playing without Paul Pogba at this side, finished off a superb Lukaku feed.

The Belgian striker got on the scoresheet himself six minutes later with an easy tap in from inside the box.

The final nail in Everton’s horrific finish came from Martial. The Frenchman dribbled his way into the box and squeezed out a penalty kick. Instead of Lukaku, Martial took the shot himself, giving Manchester United their third 4-goal victory of the season.
