It’s been quite a surprising start to the NBA season. More than anything, as you can guess by the memes, are the so-so starts by both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

Most of the jokes are aimed at the Cavs. They have a 3-5 record, with losses to teams like the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, and are 10th in the East. The defense looks atrocious, and no one cares that they’re playing without a point guard.

LeBron James isn’t playing poorly, but most people feel like the Cavs are still taking it easy and there’s nothing to worry about. However, falling too deep down the rabbit hole might be difficult to climb back out of at some point, even for LeBron.

The Warriors are 4-3, and they’re putting up points, but looking confused on defense. There aren’t that many good jokes about them, so meme makers simply focused on the easiest target out there: Kevin Durant, with Twitter and snake jokes.
