Kobe Bryant won an Academy Award for his short film ‘Dear Basketball’ and his fans seemed to be relishing the opportunity to point out something he has that Michael Jordan and especially LeBron James don’t.
The animated film is based on his retirement letter through the Players Tribune which came out in 2015, during Bryant’s last season in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant wrote the film, which was directed by Glen Keane.
The funny comparisons don’t just face him off against Jordan and LeBron, but also against other famous actors, like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, who still don’t have an Academy Award to show for.
The funniest of them all was the efficiency shot chart comparing him and Leonardo DiCaprio. The latter did win an Oscar, but it took him a few tries. For Bryant, although it’s not one of the major categories, it came on the first attempt.
