The Mohamed Salah Show (Liverpool vs Watford)

Salah

Originally, this was supposed to be an article about the best goal of the weekend. But Mohamed Salah kept scoring, finishing with 4 goals and 1 assist in the 5-0 thrashing of Watford by Liverpool on a snowy Anfield pitch. So it became an appreciation post to the man fans nickname and sing to ‘Egyptian King’.

Salah, in his debut season with the club, is now up to 28 league goals, putting together what is not just the best individual season by a Liverpool player in the Premier League era, but perhaps the best individual season overall, regardless of team, since the Premier League began. It won’t end with a championship, but if it keep Liverpool on its Champions League streak and cements Salah as a world class player, it’s worth it.

The €42 million or €50 million the team paid Roma are more than worth it, and the season isn’t over. Many believe that due to Manchester City’s dominance, it’ll be Kevin De Bruyne who wins player of the year, but with Salah carrying on with his incredible performances while Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and the team thrives with and around him, it’s hard to deny his case for the award, whether it’s the players or media that select him as the top performer of 2017-2018.
