The second and final Clasico of the season ended in a draw. Two Barcelona leads from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi were cancelled by equalizers by Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. Above everyone was referee Alejandro Hernandez with a series of mistakes, most of them benefiting the home side and almost annual champions.
Where did Hernandez go wrong? By not sending off Gareth Bale for kicking Umtiti in the first half, by failing to see Suarez committing a foul which helped Messi score Barcelona’s second goal, by failing to send off Sergio Ramos with a second yellow card and by ignoring Jordi Alba fouling Marcelo in the penalty box.
All in all, a Clasico that didn’t mean anything besides an opportunity for Barcelona to celebrate their championship in front of their ancient rivals while giving Andres Iniesta send off from the clash, it was pretty enjoyable. Good football, plenty of incidents for those who love a bit of on-pitch violence and even more referee mistakes.
Barcelona remain undefeated in the league this season, and undefeated in the league Clasicos for the 4th straight time.
