In his third game with the Toronto Raptors, Jeremy Lin experienced his first loss as a member of his new team, 113-98 at home against the Orlando Magic.

Lin had another cold night of shooting, making only 2-for-8 from the field and 0-for-2 from three. He finished with 6 points in 18 minutes, coming from layups or free throws he got thanks to his drives to the basket. Everything else from a bit further away wasn’t falling.

No Kawhi Leonard as is customary from time to time in Toronto, especially heading into the big game against the Celtics. It certainly showed on defense. 

As for Lin, besides his shooting woes, he looked his best when attacking the rim – it almost always got him and the Raptors something out of it: A layup, an assist or a foul. 

Lin also has a nice thing going on with Serge Ibaka, 2 of his 5 assists going to the big man. Lin also had a nice assist off the floor to Marc Gasol. That play, early in the game, came from a Kyle Lowry pass to Lin in the paint. The duo doesn’t play too many minutes together, but Lowry has a good understanding of where Lin goes without the ball – we saw it in Lin’s debut with the Raptors. It enables him to be a bit more creative when he’s off the ball and cut inside waiting for a pass. Maybe it should happen no more.

All in all, this was bound to happen, especially with Lin’s recent accuracy problems from long range, hopefully, something he overcomes soon. 

Lin’s averages after the game: 54 games, 19.4 minutes, 10.6 points, 3.6 assists, 45.9% from the field, 31.4% from three, 84.2% from the line.
