Game 1 of the NBA finals is behind us. The memes are out, mostly making fun of the Golden State Warriors while praising the Toronto Raptors, Pascal Siakam (aka Spicy P) and even Drake.
Kevin Durant is out. Andre Iguodala is injured, and playing like it. Kawhi Leonard is hurt too, but it isn’t affecting him as much. Still, the Warriors not coming back from a double digit deficit in the third quarter – only cutting it to 4 instead – is surprising.
Siakam, in his first playoff run as a key player, looks like he’s right at home. Not just home court, but feeling comfortable with the magnitude of the event and pressure. With the Warriors double teaming Leonard at every opportunity, Siakam’s ability to take advantage of what’s in front of him is one the Raptors’ keys to winning this series and the championship.
One game down. It’s still weird to think that the Warriors won’t win it – stealing a game on the road is completely possible, maybe even likely. Yet, without Durant, the NBA champions seem vulnerable for the first time in 3 years.
