Tua Tagovailoa’s Hip Injury Puts Him Out For the Season

Tua Tagovailoa’s injuries have been so bad that he may be out of season. Though Oklahoma should have received more press coverage for their sensational comeback, Tua’s hip injuries grabbed all the news headlines. The injury happened when Marquiss Spencer and Leo Lewis of Mississippi chased Tagovailoa, and Tua stumbled to his left.

The almost photogenic nature of Tua’s injuries – blooding spewing from his face, his convulsing hips and the agonized expression in his eyes, all pointed towards a tragedy that an injury of this magnitude truly is. Surprisingly, many have debated if Tua should even have been on the field in the first place. While playing against LSU, Tua catapulted 418 yards. This already had brought Alabama coach Nick Saban’s decisions under scrutiny.

Tua Tagovailoa’s injuries cast many doubts

For Tua and his fans, the injury may cast a shadow on his future. Most had already taken it for granted that after college football, Tua’s natural progression would be towards the NFL. He even played during an ankle injury, just a week ago. All his efforts and headline-making stunts may soon come to an end if his injuries are as serious as the headlines are making it be. Lyle Cain, Alabama’s bone surgeon did confirm that Tua will make a full recovery.

Alabama had very few successful quarterbacks until Tagovailoa brought his energy to the field. He single-handedly brought Alabama to the forefront of college football. Of course, Alabama will find another star and it has had its share of runners and elite defenses in the past. However, it will never be the same again without Tua Tagovailoa. His quiet confidence and monstrous energy have inspired college footballs as no one else could ever have.

Questions are swirling

Surely, Alabama hasn’t had it easy and the coming days will prove to be trying. There are many questions that will need to be answered. For one, one might wonder what is the next step for Alabama, which probably lost its star quarterback at least temporarily. The second question would concern Tua Tagovailoa’s career, which was hurtling towards mega success. These questions do not have clear answers and will take a while to be assessed clearly.
