LA Clippers snatched an OT win against the Boston Celtics, after an exciting spectacle at the Staples Center. Though, it needs to be said, that the officials spoiled the show with several controversial calls. The final result was 107-104 for the hosts who appeared with both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for the first time ever.

The two didn’t impress that much, but their overall impact on the game was massive. Kawhi blocked Kemba Walker’s three-point attempt on the final possession, to prevent the second OT. Meanwhile, George had a couple of shots going in in the decisive moments.

However, the two leading players for the Clippers tonight were Lou Williams and Pat Beverly. The latter scored a three with 43.9 seconds to go, which pulled the hosts away to 107-102. He also had a career-high 16 rebounds, along with 14 points.

Williams was instrumental in the last quarter of the regulations when he delivered 13 of his 27 points. He also scored the final five points for the Clippers, which saved the hosts from a certain loss.

Officials Frustrate Celtics

On the other side, the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum scored a game-tying three with 13.1 seconds, which eventually forced the overtime. The guests were very much frustrated with a couple of late calls by the officials, which in the end, affected the game a lot.

A foul on Paul George, and tech to Brad Stevens helped the hosts as they got easy points while the game was on the line. Also, it made the visiting players very mad, which probably influenced their performance in crucial situations.

Tatum had 30 points, hitting five threes. Marcus Smart had 15, but his three-point percentage was awful, 1 of 11. Kemba Walker also didn’t have a good shooting night, 4 for 17 for 13 points, along with 6 turnovers. Brad Wanamaker had 14.

George delivered 25 for the Clippers, with 8 assists, while Leonard had 17. These two had 15 made shots in 38 attempts, and 10 lost possessions combined.

The Clippers (10-5) now await the Houston Rockets, who suffered a defeat against the Nuggets in Denver. Meanwhile, that would be the next destination for the Celtics (11-3). Brad Stevens’ guys are closing out the Western Conference tour on Friday at the Pepsi Center.
