Premier League Rumors: Silva out, Moyes Back to Everton

After the most recent trashing against Liverpool, in the Merseyside Derby, Everton’s coach Marco Silva will probably be sacked. According to various sources from the English media, Silva’s contract should be terminated first thing in the morning, and his replacement might be David Moyes.

Merseyside Derby Catastrophe

Silva’s Toffees lost to Liverpool 5-2 this Wednesday and were pretty much humiliated by their biggest enemies. Since 1982, this was the first time for Everton to allow five goals against the Reds, and according to the fans, it is one of the worst derbies in the recent history of the club.

Everton is playing bad this season, and they have been in the bottom half of the table for quite some time. But that is not all. A loss vs. Liverpool was their eighth over the past 11 games, and after a while, the club from Goodison Park has fallen all the way down into the relegation zone.

Having in mind that this squad is quite an expensive one, the frustration with Silva’s work as a manager of the team reached the critical point. The start of the season was mild, but the board believed in the current manager. Yet, as time went by, results got worse, and it appears that the chemistry in the locker room isn’t that good. All this set the alarm off at Goodison and Everton might fire its coach.

David Moyes’ Comeback

One of the most beloved persons among Toffees’ supporters, David Moyes is reportedly awaiting for his former club’s call. He was in charge of Everton from 2002 until 2013, becoming almost a synonym for the club during that point.

In 518 games, he posted 218 wins, 139 draws, and 161 defeats. Afterward, he would join Manchester United but stayed at the Old Trafford for just 10 months. During that time he won the Community Shield but was labeled in the end as one of the biggest busts in United’s history.

He would go to Spain next, and led Real Sociedad for one year, before staying seven months at West Ham from November 2017 until May 2018. Ever since, Moyes didn’t have any job.
