It seems that the Brooklyn Nets could add another superstar to their core. According to several sources, Kevin Love might be the next addition to Kenny Atkinson’s team. But also, some are adding that Portland is getting prepared to make a push for the All-Star forward.
Sorry Cavs Don’t Need Love
The franchise from Cleveland will be more than willing to trade the 31-year old. They are in the process of a rebuild, and veterans are not very welcome on their roster. Especially the ones with a high salary, and Love has more than $20 million per year. With Darius Garland and Collin Sexton in charge now, the former Minnesota Timberwolves is not important anymore, and that particularly applies right now when the team has 5 wins and 17 losses.
The Cavs are far away from the playoff zone and will look to cash in their bad results with another high pick on the upcoming draft. It means that they won’t be very keen on making some progress in their game, that is, post wins, and you don’t need a $20 million guy to lose.
Portland and the Nets as Potential Destinations
The Trail Blazers are fed up with being a good team, but not a contender. They want more after the last season’s Western Conference finals, and also, they need to do something in order to bounce back on the right track after starting the campaign badly.
Adding Love would be perfect for them. He has a solid downtown percentage, is averaging a double-double per game, and would add a lot of depth for the Blazers’ roster.
Meanwhile, it would be a perfect fit for the Nets too. With athletic centers like DeAndre Jordan and Jarrett Allen, his three-point shooting would open up a lot of space for Kyrie and the guards, and their two-on-two game with the bigs.
What is one of the important factors in this possible trade, is the fact that Love and Kyrie know one another very well, and they won the title in 2016. Them two would be in the same roles as then, and when Kevin Durant comes back he would be LeBron James from that championship team.
