With the Redskins about to play the Cowboys tonight, the only 3-0 teams in the NFL right now are the defending champions Green Bay Packers, beating the Chicago Bears this week, the Buffalo Bills, with a huge 34-31 win over the New England Patriots and… the Detroit Lions, winning the other NFC North battle, 26-23 over the win-less Vikings.

New England Patriots (2-1) 31  Buffalo Bills (3-0)  34

Yes, the Bills are 3-0. Tom Brady threw four interceptions and the Patriots’ defense was exposed big time, as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 2 TD (and also two picks) and 369 yards, leading Buffalo on a huge comeback run in the fourth quarter, ending with a field goal as time expired by Rian Lindell to win the game.

San Francisco 49ers (2-1) 13  Cincinnati Bengals (1-2) 8

Only one TD scored between both teams, by Kendall Hunter of the 49ers as Alex Smith mostly found Vernon Davis (114 yards) and Frank Gore highly disappointed (42 yards in 17 carries).

Miami Dolphins (0-3) 16  Cleveland Browns (2-1) 17

Colt McCoy had a rough game (19-39, 210 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT), but threw his most important pass with less than a minute left on the clock, finding Mohamed Massaquoi with a 14 yard completion for the touchdown and the win.

Denver Broncos (1-2) 14  Tennessee Titans (2-1) 17

Matt Hasselbeck is one of the more pleasant quarterback surprises this season, or maybe he isn’t a surprise, with another very good game, throwing for 311 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning score in the fourth quarter to Daniel Graham. Chris Johnson continues to suck with 21 yards in 13 carries. At least he caught 4 passes.

Detroit Lions (3-0) 26  Minnesota Vikings (0-3) 23

For the first time in over 30 years, the Detroit Lions, are 3-0. The Vikings led 20-0 at half time, but the Matthew Stafford-Calvin Johnson combo worked beautifully in the second half, Stafford finishing with 378 yards and two touchdown passes to Johnson. Jason Hanson, with a 32 yard field goal, scored the winning points, the only points, in the fourth quarter.

Houston Texans (2-1) 33  New Orleans Saints (2-1) 40

A fun to watch Southern shootout gave us a huge fourth quarter from both teams, but mostly the Saints and Drew Brees. Matt Schaub finished with 373 yards, 3 TD and 1 INT. Breeds with 370 yards, 3 TD and 2 INT. Pretty even. Mark Ingram’s touchdown run with 2:42 left in the game gave the win to New Orleans.

New York Giants (2-1) 29  Philadelphia Eagles (1-2) 16

More bad Michael Vick news for the “Dream Team”, as the 100 million dollar man broke his arm during their second straight loss. Eli Manning had his best game of the season, throwing four touchdown passes to Victor Cruz (2), Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. The Eagles were leading 16-14 entering the fourth quarter, with LeSean McCoy having a big game with 128 yards and a score.

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2) 10  Carolina Panthers (1-2) 16

Nothing out of the ordinary from Cam Newton, but he did get his first win as an NFL QB. The struggles of Blaine Gabbert were evident all game long. Newton threw the game winning pass to Greg Olsen with 04:20 left in the game, the Panthers’ only TD in the game. Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 122 yards.

New York Jets (2-1) 24  Oakland Raiders (2-1) 34

Mark Sanchez got sacked four times and threw one interception while Darren McFadden ran wild with 171 yards and two touchdowns, handing the Jets their first loss of the season.

Baltimore Ravens (2-1) 37  St. Louis Rams (0-3) 7

A brutal game with two teams just not in the same league in every parameter of the game. Joe Flacco threw for 389 yards and 3 touchdown passes while Ray Rice finished with 162 yards from scrimmage. Sam Bradford got sacked 5 times and hit 11 times.

Kansas City Chiefs (0-3) 17  San Diego Chargers (2-1) 20

Philip Rivers was awful, getting intercepted twice, but Ryan Mathews was just short of 100 yards, scoring two touchdowns, to bury the Chiefs and Matt Cassel who threw a late interception to squander any chances of winning the game.

Green Bay Packers (3-0) 27  Chicago Bears (1-2) 17

The Green Bay Packers are just too good for anyone right now. Aaron Rodgers threw 3 touchdown passes (and one interception), all to JerMichael Finley, while the Chicago Bears got only 13 yards on the ground with Clay Matthews creating 3 tackles for a loss by himself. There were 10 in total by the Packers defense.

Arizona Cardinals (1-2) 10  Seattle Seahawks (1-2) 13

Seattle got their first win of the season through the legs of their quarterback Tavaris Jackson, running for a touchdown in the third quarter. Simeon Rice caught for over 100 yards while Kevin Kolb got intercepted twice in another very weak NFC West game.

Atlanta Falcons (1-2) 13  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) 16

The two quarterbacks had a well below average performance, despite Matt Ryan going for over 300 yards. He got no running help, with Michael Turner limited to 20 yards on 11 carries and got sacked four times by the excellent Tampa defense. A fourth quarter comeback fell short of the mark after scoring only 3 points through the first three periods.

Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1) 23  Indianapolis Colts (0-3) 20

The Colts nearly won without any offense whatsoever, through defense alone, but in this NFL, version 2011, you gotta have some kind of offense. Ben Roethlisberger had a very good second half and did just enough to give the Steelers a chance to win through Shuan Suisham’s field goal with 4 seconds to go.
