2011 College Football Rankings – Week 6

The SEC 1-2 combo continues, as LSU still occupy number one after crushing Florida and Alabama right behind with a shout out win over Vanderbilt. Oklahoma got the big win of the weekend, destroying big rivals Texas 55-17 and for the first time since 1982, there’s no team from Florida in the top 25.

1. LSU Tigers, 6-0 (40 First place votes) – Another impressive win for LSU over SEC rivals, this time over Florida, beating the Gators 41-11, knocking them out of the rankings.

2. Alabama Crimson Tide, 6-0 (10) – Continuing the 1-2 SEC teams, Alabama shut out Vanderbilt with a 34-0 win over Vanderbilt, as Trent Richardson ran for over 100 yards again and AJ McCarron threw for four touchdowns.

3. Oklahoma Sooners, 5-0 (8) – Got their rivalry win and probably the biggest of the weekend with a huge 55-17 crushing over Texas in Dallas, with Landry Jones throwing for 367 yards and three touchdowns.

4. Wisconsin Badgers, 5-0 – Didn’t play, didn’t move.

5. Boise State Broncos, 5-0 (1) – The Broncos got a Friday night win over Fresno State, beating them 51-7.

6. Oklahoma State Cowboys, 5-0 – Lit up the scoreboard with a 70-28 win over Kansas, as Brandon Weeden threw five touchdown passes.

7. Stanford Cardinal, 5-0 – The Andrew Luck project keeps on rollin’, beating Colorado 48-7 throwing for 370 yards and 3 TD.

8. Clemson Tigers, 6-0 – The most surprising team this season keeps on winning, dominating the ACC with a 36-14 win over Boston College and 117 yards from Andre Ellington.

9. Oregon Ducks, 4-1 – Played on Thursday, beating California 43-15, with LaMichael James injured after he ran for 239 yards and a touchdown.

10. Arkansas Razorbacks, 5-1 – A big SEC win for the Hogs, beating champions Auburn 38-14.

11. Michigan Wolverines, 6-0 – A 42-14 win over Northwestern bumped the Wolverines up a spot, as Denard Robinson threw for 337 yards, 2 TD and ran for 117 yards and 2 TD.

12. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 6-0 – Moved up a spot after a tough 21-16 win over Maryland, with quarterback Tevin Washington running for 120 yards and 2 TD.

13. West Virginia Mountaineers, 5-1 – Moved up 3 spots with a 43-16 win over UConn. Quarterback Geno Smith threw for 450 yards and four touchdowns.

14. Nebraska Cornhuskers, 5-1 – Staying put after a 34-27 win over Ohio State, coming from a 20-6 half time deficit.

15. South Carolina Gamecocks, 5-1 – Rebounded from their loss last week, jumping three spots after an impressive 54-3 win over Kentucky. Connor Shaw threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns, Marcus Lattimore ran for 102.

16. Illinois Fighting Illini, 6-0 – A 41-20 win over Indiana moved them up 3 spots.

17. Kansas State Wildcats, 5-0 – Also movers of 3 spots in the right direction after a 24-17 win over very disappointing Missouri.

18. Arizona State Sun Devils, 5-1 – Brock Osweiler threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns as ‘State beat Utah 35-14, moving up four spots.

19. Virginia Tech Hokies, 5-1 – Quarterback Logan Thomas ran for a touchdown with less than a minute on the clock, sealing a wild 38-34 win over Miami, as the Hokies rise two spots.

20. Baylor Bears, 4-1 – A 49-26 win over Iowa State with another impressive Saturday from Robert Griffin III, running for over 100 yards and passing for more than 200.

21. Texas A&M, 3-2 – Halted the losing streak and rose three spots with a 45-40 win over Texas Tech.

22. Texas Longhorns, 4-1 – Getting demolished in the Red River Rivalry, 55-17 by Oklahoma, dropped the Longhorns 11 spots.

23. Michigan State Spartans, 4-1 – Didn’t move, but somehow re-entered the rankings. Weird.

24. Auburn Tigers, 4-2 – The National Champions lost at Arkansas, 38-14, dropping nine spots.

25. Houston Cougars, 6-0 – A 56-3 win over East Carolina with Case Keenum throwing for 304 yards and three touchdown.

Dropped from the rankings – Florida, Florida State.
