The top 5 remained still, with both LSU and Alabama not playing, ready for the no.1 vs no.2 SEC power display. Stanford with a big win over USC, Oklahoma State, Boise State and Houston remained undefeated. Houston also didn’t lose and are the only Texas school in the Top 25, as A&M and Tech dropped after losses.

1. LSU Tigers, 8-0 (47 First Place Votes) – Didn’t play. Didn’t move.

2. Alabama Crimson Tide, 8-0 (10) – Didn’t play, Didn’t move.

3. Oklahoma State Cowboys, 8-0 – Another week at number 3 for the Cowboys after a 59-24 win over Baylor, with Joseph Randle running for 152 yards and four touchdown passes.

4. Stanford Cardinal, 8-0 – A huge 56-48 triple over time win at USC, led by noneother than Andrew Luck kept Stanford at no. 4.

5. Boise State, 7-0 (1) – Didn’t play, didn’t move.

6. Oregon Ducks, 7-1 – Oregon beat Washington State 43-28, moving up one spot, remaining the highest ranked one loss team in the nation.

7. Oklahoma Sooners, 7-1 – Beat undefeated and probably overhyped Kansas State convincingly, 58-17, as Landry Jones threw five touchdown passes. Moved up four spots.

8. Arkansas Razorbacks, 7-1 – A big fourth quarter comeback put the Hogs over Vanderbilt, barely, with a 31-28, keeping them at 8.

9. Nebraska Cornhuskers, 7-1 – Shut down Michigan State, beating the Spartans 24-3, moving up four spots.

10. South Carolina Gamecocks, 7-1 – An ugly game but another win for SC, beating Tennessee 14-3, moving up four spots after a week of rest.

11. Clemson Tigers, 8-1 – No longer undefeated, dropping from the sixth spot. Lost to ACC rivals Georgia Tech 31-17.

12. Virginia Tech Hokies, 8-1 – Duke gave them quite a scare, but Beamer team beat the Blue Devils 14-3, helped by David Wilson’s 148 yards on the ground, moving them up three spots.

13. Michigan Wolverines, 7-1 – For once, not Robinson got the headlines. Fitzgerald Toussaint ran for 170 yards and two touchdowns as Michigan beat Purdue 36-14, moving up four spots.

14. Houston Cougars, 8-0 – Played the early game, destroying Rice 73-34. Case Keenum passed for NINE touchdown passes and has a 32-3 TD-INT ratio this year. Houston moved up four spots.

15. Michigan State Spartans, 6-2 – Dropping six spots after their 3-24 loss at Lincoln to Nebraska.

16. Penn State Nittany Lions, 8-1 – Joe Paterno got his 409th win with Penn State waiting till the fourth quarter to score all their 10 points in a 10-7 win over Illinois. Moved up five spots.

17. Kansas State Wildcats, 7-1 – Came back to reality with the 17-58 loss against Oklahoma, falling seven spots.

18. Georgia Bulldogs, 6-2 – The season keeps looking better for the ‘Daws as they beat rivals Florida 24-20, moving up three spots.

19. Wisconsin Badgers, 6-2 – The wrong side of the curve, the Badgers lost for the second time in a row, this time a nail-biter to Ohio State, 33-29, dropping seven spots.

20. Arizona State Sun Devils, 6-2 – The next team to crush Colorado, beating the Buffaloes 48-14, moving up three spots.

21. USC Trojans, 6-2 – Fell a spot after giving Stanford one heck of a fight, eventually losing after triple overtime 48-56.

22. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 7-2 – Back in the rankings after beating Clemson 31-17.

23. Cincinnati Bearcats, 6-1 – Didn’t play, still moved up a spot.

24. West Virginia Mountaineers, 6-2 – Beat Rutgers 41-31 in the snow, moving up a spot.

25. Auburn Tigers, 6-3 – The only three loss team in the Top 25, beating Ole Miss 41-23, with Clint Moseley throwing for four touchdown passes.
