Everyone was focused on one game, and LSU came out on top, beating Alabama 9-6 in the ‘Game of the Century’, #1 vs #2 SEC private battle. Oklahoma State, Boise State and Houston remain as the other undefeated schools with the Cowboys taking over the no.2 spot in the nation.

1. LSU Tigers, 9-0 (59 First Place Votes) – The best in the SEC, the best in the nation, beating #2 Alabama 9-6 with an overtime field goal.

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys, 9-0 – Moved up a spot and put themselves in position for the National Championship game after a wild 52-42 win over Kansas State, with Brandon Weeden throwing for 502 yards and four touchdown passes.

3. Stanford Cardinal, 9-0 – Also made one move upwards, beating lowly Oregon State 38-13.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide, 8-1 – Lost to LSU 9-6, at home, losing their grip in the SEC West and dropping two spots in the AP rankings.

5. Boise State Broncos, 8-0 (1) – Didn’t move after a 48-21 win over UNLV, as Kellen Moore tossed five touchdown passes.

6. Oregon Ducks, 8-1 – Stayed put after a 34-17 win over Washington.

7. Oklahoma Sooners, 8-1 – Didn’t move as well, with a big 41-25 win over Texas A&M, including 28 third quarter points.

8. Arkansas Razorbacks, 8-1 – Stayed put. In a big top 10 vs top 10 clash, beat South Carolina 44-28, and seem like the only team with a shot of beating LSU before the SEC championship game.

9. Clemson Tigers, 8-1 – Didn’t play, but still managed to move up in the world.

10. Virginia Tech Hokies, 8-1 – Didn’t play, but moved up two spots. As usual, Beamer’s team finds a way to make it into the top 10.

11. Houston Cougars, 9-0 – Case Keenum set a new NCAA record for career passing yards, leading Houston to a 56-13 win over UAB and their highest ranking since 1991.

12. Penn State Nittany Lions, 8-1 – Didn’t play, moved up four spots.

13. Michigan State Spartans, 7-2 – Moved up a couple of spots after a 31-24 win over Minnesota.

14. Georgia Bulldogs, 7-2 – Moved up four spots after their 63-16 win over New Mexico State, a WAC weakling, dropping 42 second quarter points.

15. South Carolina Gamecocks, 7-2 – Fell five spots after their 44-28 loss at Arkansas.

16. Wisconsin Badgers, 7-2 – Crushed Purdue 62-17, moving them up three spots, while Montee Ball ran for 223 yards, scoring three touchdowns.

17. Kansas State, 7-2 – Snyder’s team lost to Oklahoma 45-52 but didn’t lose a spot in the rankings.

18. USC Torjans, 7-2 – Moved up three spots after being the next team to beat up on Colorado (1-9) 42-17, as Matt Barkley threw six touchdown passes.

19. Nebraska Cornhuskers, 7-2 – Stunned by Northwestern at home, 25-28, free falling 10 spots.

20. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 7-2 – Didn’t play, moved up two places.

21. Texas Longhorns, 6-2 – Back in the rankings after crushing Texas Tech 52-20, with Joe Bergeron running 191 yards, scoring three touchdowns.

22. Michigan Wolverines, 7-2 – Lost to Iowa 24-16, falling nine spots in the rankings.

23. Cincinnati Bearcats, 7-1 – Stayed put despite their very important (in Big East terms) 26-23 win over Pittsburgh.

24. Auburn Tigers, 6-3 – Didn’t play, moved up a spot.

25. Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 8-1 – Beat East Carloina 48-28, dropping into the rankings.
