What are the chances of two 6-2 scorelines between the same two teams, at the same venue, year after year? Cristiano Ronaldo scored his fifth hat trick of the season as Real Madrid rise back to the top of the La Liga, humiliating Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Strength of sides and of great players doesn’t get measured only by their performance in the big matches. Real Madrid bounced back from their very tough Clasico loss to Barcelona with an impressive, dominating and easy looking 6-2 win against Sevilla. Cristiano Ronaldo took more than one or two criticizing shots after failing to score and lead Jose Mourinho to his first League win over Barcelona. He exploded against Sevilla, along with the others.

Angel Di Maria, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, proves this season his worth time and time again. Just not against Barcelona. But he bounced back well, scoring the fourth goal and providing two assists. Jose Maria Callejon scored the second goal, playing for Mesut Ozil.

Things could have been different if Iker Casillas wouldn’t have made an incredible save at 1-0 off Manu, but he did, and Callejon scored soon after. Pepe getting sent off didn’t really change a thing, and with 10 players Real still looked like the better side, the hungrier side. Mourinho did his job this week in preparing his players. While Barcelona bask in the Neymar festival in Japan, Real can boast of leading the league before Christmas. Winter champions. Half the road to a greater goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo deserves the finishing word as well, especially after the treatment he got from us earlier today. He’s now on 20 goals after 16 matches, making it 111 in 112 matches for Real Madrid. Making history almost every time he steps on this pitch, we’ll be telling our grandchildren one day about Real’s no.9, who’s still CR7 to most fans, about seeing one of the greatest goal scorers of all time.
