Deivid has to take the blame for Flamengo losing to Vasco 2-1 in the Taca Guanabara match between the two rivals, creating what can only be described as the miss of the century, which is a term used once a year to my knowledge, but very few occasions are actually so worthy of the title, as Deivid’s miss certainly is.
Words to describe? Deivid got an absolute sitter to simply tap in, with no keeper or Vasco defendersĀ in frontĀ of him, between him and the goal. The distance? A meter, at best. Somehow, the 32 year old striker, beginning his third season with Flamengo, managed to find the post.
It would be a norm to say something like this isn’t expected from such a striker, who scored 15 time for Flamengo last season, who played for Sporting Lisbon and Fenerbahce in Turkey with moderate success, but that would be a false statement. Saying you wouldn’t expect a 3-4 year old kid who never played football in his life to miss such an opportunity would probably make more sense.
