The Fastest Goals in Europa League History

Sergio Augero scoring a goal after only 18 seconds in the 4-0 Manchester City win over FC Porto to pull them through the first knockout stage of the Europa League is the second fastest goal in the history of the competition.

This makes for a quick adjustment on Aguero’s part, who scored in both legs for Manchester City, who made a rather easy encounter of their first dive into the Second-tier European competition this season, and by falling out of the Champions Leauge immediately became the favorites to lift their second European trophy in club history.

But, as we’ve said, Aguero is only second on the list, with Ismael Blanco, Taison, Juan Mata and Bobby Zamora among the top 5 fastest scorers in the short history of the competition which replaced the UEFA cup.

Bobby Zamora, 21 seconds – Fulham vs Wolfsburg, April 8, 2010

Juan Manuel Mata, 19 Seconds – Valencia vs Club Brugge, February 25, 2010

Taison, 19 Seconds – Metalist vs Red Bull Salzburg, February 16, 2012

Sergio Aguero, 18 Seconds – Manchester City vs Porto, February 22, 2012

Ismael Blanco, 13 Seconds – AEK vs BATE Borisov, November 5, 2009
