No real surprises at the top of the 2012 NFL Draft, as both Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III were sealed weeks ago with the Colts and Redskins. Lower? Got interesting, as two more quarterbacks were picked in the first round while Cleveland and Dallas made some interesting moves by trading up to get Richardson and Claiborne.

Number 1 – Andrew Luck (Stanford), QB, to the Indianapolis Colts

College Stats – Luck completed 71.3% of his passes while throwing for 37 touchdowns and running for two more in his final year with the Cardinal. He was intercepted 10 times.

Looks like a can’t-miss kind of quarterback, but he’s good big shoes to fill, and the draft bust graveyard is long and always hungry for more #1 picks who never really lived up to their potential.

Number 2 – Robert Griffin III (Baylor), QB, to the Washington Redskins

College Stats – Completed 72.4% of his passes while leading the nation in yards per attempts (10.7). He finished with 37-6 TD-Int ratio during his final year, running 10 touchdowns as well.

Could have gone number one during every other year. Will be under the same kind of pressure Luck is, maybe even more, to produce and win right away.

Number 3 – Trent Richardson (Alabama), RB, to the Cleveland Browns

College Stats – Ran for 1679 yards, scoring 21 touchdowns while catching passes for three more during his Junior year with the Crimson Tide, winning the national title and finishing 3rd in the Heisman voting.

Running backs are rarely picked so high in recent years, but every one felt Richardson will be able to put up big numbers and be an impact guy right away. No team needed a boost to their running game like the Cleveland Browns who traded up to get him.

Number 4 – Matt Kalil (USC), OT, to the Minnesota Vikings

Kalil was a first team All American and Pac-12 member in 2011 and was regarded as the best offensive tackle in the draft. The Vikings got this pick after trading down with the Cleveland Browns. The Vikings gave up 49 sacks last season, mostly from the left side, where Kalil is supposed to plug a hole and support the running game.

Number 5 – Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State), WR, to the Jacksonville Jaguars

College Stats – Blackmon caught 121 passes for 1522 yards and 18 touchdowns during his third year with the Cowboys, winning the Fiesta Bowl MVP and being a First Team All-American during his last couple of seasons.

Projected to be the best receiver coming out of this draft, by far, Blackmon joins the worst passing offense in the NFL which has already bolstered up for the 2012 season with two WR during free agency, hoping to give Blaine Gabbert as many solid targets as possible.

Number 6 – Morris Claiborne (LSU), CB, to the Dallas Cowboys.

Number 7- Mark Barron (Alabama), S, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Number 8 – Ryan Tannehill (Texas A&M), QB, to the Miami Dolphins.

Number 9 – Luke Cuechly (Boston College), ILB, to the Carolina Panthers.

Number 10 – Stephon Gilmore (South Carolina), CB, to the Buffalo Bills.

Number 11 – Dontari Poe (Memphis), DT, to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Number 12 – Fletcher Fox (Mississippi State), DT, to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Number 13 – Michael Floyd (Notre Dame), WR, to the Arizona Cardinals.

Number 14 – Michael Brockers (LSU), DT, to the St. Louis Rams.

Number 15 – Bruce Irvin (West Virginia), OLB, to the Seattle Seahawks.

Number 16 – Quinton Coples (North Carolina), DE, to the New York Jets.

Number 17 – Dre Kirkpatrick (Alabama), CB, to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Number 18 – Melvin Ingram (South Carolina), DE, to the San Diego Chargers.

Number 19 – Shea McClellin (Boise State), OLB, to the Chicago Bears.

Number 20 – Kendall Wright (Baylor), WR, to the Tennessee Titans.

Number 21 – Chandler Jones (Syracuse), DE, to the New England Patriots.

Number 22 – Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State), QB, to the Cleveland Browns.

Number 23 – Reily Reiff (Iowa), OT, to the Detroit Lions.

Number 24 – David DeCastro (Stanford), OG, to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Number 25 – Dont’a Hightower (Alabama), ILB, to the New England Patriots.

Number 26 – Whitney Mercilus (Illinois), DE, to the Houston Texans.

Number 27 – Kevin Zeitler (Wisconsin), OG, to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Number 28 – Nick Perry (USC), DE, to the Green Bay Packers.

Number 29 – Harrison Smith (Notre Dame), S, to the Minnesota Vikings.

Number 30 – AJ Jenkins (Illinois), WR, to the San Francisco 49ers.

Number 31 – Doug Martin (Boise State), RB, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Number 32 – David Wilson (Virginia Tech), RB, to the New York Giants.
