Best Photos of the Los Angeles Kings Winning the 2012 Stanley Cup

After 45 years, a Los Angeles Kings captain, Dustin Brown in this case, got to lift the Stanley Cup after beating the New Jersey Devils 6-1 in Game 6 and 4-2 in the series. The Kings can attribute the win to the Devils’ Steve Bernier penalized for misconduct, which signaled the beginning of the rout and cause for celebration.

A special atmosphere on a special night. The Kings joined the NHL in 1967. It took them 45 years to finally win their first Cup in their second visit to the Stanley Cup Finals, with the first being a loss to Montreal in 1993.

Anze Kopitar looking on before Game 6 began. When the evening was over, with Kopitar notching up one assist, his third of the series, he became the first Slovenian player to win the Stanley Cup.

The Beginning

The Kings’ captain, Dustin Brown, didn’t have a great series, but he waited to score his first goal in the Stanley Cup for the perfect moment, opening the scoring in Game 6 after 11 minutes. The Kings never looked back after that one.

The moment it all fell apart – Steve Bernier hit Rob Scuderi from behind, and the Kings went on to score three goals in four minutes after the five minute major penalty.
