John Peterson With a Hole-In-One at the US Open

Tiger Woods falling behind in the 2012 US Open after sharing the lead is the big story this weekend from San Francisco, but some of the spotlight did go to John Peterson who made a hole-in-one on the 13th hole.

Participating in his first US Open, the 23 year old out of LSU has surprised many by his very impressive first three rounds. He found himself among the leaders after the second round, tied for fourth with a +1, trailing Furyk, Woods and Toms. The next day saw him move down to 8th with a +3, now four shots behind Furyk and Graeme McDowell.

The young Peterson was actually having quite a rough day up until that par 3, 13th hole, and didn’t seem to think he had enough on the ball he hit then. He did get a favorable bounce once it hit the green. For Peterson, the US Open is his fifth tournament of the season, never finishing above 55th so far. It is his first year on the Pro tour.
