Transfer Rumors 2012 – AC Milan After Kaka and Arjen Robben

It’s not only about selling for AC Milan, who have lost almost every recognizable player this summer. There are plans to give the fans someone to cheer about, with the club looking into signing Arjen Robben from Bayern Munich and Kaka from Real Madrid.

AC Milan have sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG; A huge chunk, pretty much all of it, of their veteran forces have either retired or have been released from the club – Filippo Inzaghi became a coach while Alessandro Nesta, Gianluca Zambrotta, Gennaro Gattuso, Mark van Bommel and Clarence Seedorf left to end their careers elsewhere.

But while Silvio Berlusconi is busy getting re-elected, his vice-president, Adriano Galliani, is talking about appeasing the fans for a summer that has mostly been about giving things up in order to begin some sort of youth movement but most importantly, ease up on the wage bill and improve the situation in club’s gold chest with the sales of Ibrahimovic and Silva to PSG.

So who’s on the target list? Two players who aren’t exactly made of young stuff – Unsettled Kaka from Real Madrid, which would be somewhat of a return of a favorite son to the club, and Arjen Robben of Bayern Munich, who despite all he’s done with the club is always remembered for the almost, the misses and the big time losses.

Kaka has been pretty much announced a persona non grata with the Real Madrid squad, not included in the 25-man squad that flew off to prepare for the new season with a series of friendlies. Aitor Karanka has been the spokesman for Jose Mourinho on this subject, being unusually quiet about the whole matter, at least to media. Karanka praised Kaka’s personality but basically said they don’t want him and his huge wages anymore, hoping not to let him go for less than €20 million.

Arjen Robben is a different matter. There’s no problem with his professional status with the club, scoring 12 goals in 24 league matches last season, helping Bayern Munich to a second Champions League final, and a loss. But his selfishness that seems to magnify during the big matches, like the match of the season against Dortmund and the UCL final against Chelsea. Missed penalties, a deteriorating relationship with his head coach, players and the Bayern fans lead to a conclusion that maybe an exit might be a good idea.

Milan have already expressed interest in both players, maybe even submitting an offer for Kaka, but it’s been quiet on the reply section so far. Kaka played 269 matches for Milan from 2003 to 2009, scoring 95 goals, winning one league title and the Champions League. Robben has been with Bayern since 2009, scoring 32 goals in 98 matches.
