The financial situation in Germany is pretty good, meaning that every team in the Bundesliga spent quite a few Euros on bringing in new talent, although mostly from within Germany. Most notably, obviously, were Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, probably up for another two horse title race in the 2012-2013 season.
Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund’s biggest capture this summer was Marco Reus from Borussia Monchengladbach, already scoring on the opening weekend against Werder Bremen. He was purhcased for €17.5 million million. Oliver Kirch, a 30 year old midfielder, arrived from Kaiserslautern; Julian Schieber, a 23 year old striker, joined from Stuttgart; Leonardo Bittencourt, an 18 year old midfielder arrived from Cottbus.
Bayern Munich
Dante, the 28 year old centre back who played for Monchengladbach these past three seasons arrived for $4.7 million. Mario Mandžukić came from Wolfsburg after an impressive Euro tournament and scoring 20 goals in 56 matches for the club over the last two seasons; Xherdan Shaqiri, the 20 year old Swiss from FC Basel, hoping he’s more than just potential; Veteran striker making his return to Bayern from Werder Bremen, Claudio Pizarro; Goalkeeper Tom Starke from Hoffenheim; 18 year old Mitchell Weiser from FC Koln.
Schalke 04
After spending half of last season on loan with Schalke, Nigerian Chinedu Obasi joined from Hoffenheim; Tranquillo Barnetta, the 27 year old Swiss winger came over from Leverkusen after 8 seasons with his former club; Roman Neustädter, a 24 year old defensive midfielder from Monchengladbach.
Borussia Monchengladbach
Luuk de Jong arrived from Twente after scoring 25 goals last season in the Netherlands; 23 year old defender Álvaro Domínguez arrived from Atletico Madrid; 21 year old German striker Peniel Mlapa arrived from Hoffenheim; Granit Xhaka, a 19 year old Swiss midfielder, already with 7 caps for the national side, was signed for €8.5 million million from FC Basel.

Junior Fernandes arrived from Universidad de Chile for €3 million; 23 year old Philipp Wollscheid of Nuremberg.

Fagner, a 23 year old Brazilian right back arrived from Sao Paulo; Ivica Olić arrived from Bayern Munich after three seasons with the club, hardly playing during his last two years; Václav Pilař, who impressed many during the Euro with the Czech Republic, joined from Hradec Králové; Bas Dost, the top scorer of the Dutch league last season with 32 goals for Heerenveen; Kevin Pannewitz, a 20 year old midfielder coming from Rostock; Emanuel Pogatetz, the Austrian defender joining from Hannover; Brazilian Naldo joining from Werder Bremen after 7 seasons there.
