Sometimes, team logos need a little bit of modernization and a touch of a redesign. The NFL teams aren’t currently doing anything, so OspreyDawn over on reddit decided that making the best use of his time would be to make new logos for some of the NFL teams he felt were in need of a new flavor and image on their helmets.
Just to give you the feeling that his post isn’t all about the arts, we’ve added just a tad of info to keep you slightly informed heading into the 2012 season. Most of these teams actually kinda sucked in 2011, while the artist himself, a Giants fan apparently, felt that the G-Men had a good enough of a logo that need not be messed with.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns, playing in the AFC North, finished 4-12 last season, last in the division. They’ll be coached by Pat Shurmur in 2012, his second year at the job.
Houston Texans
The Texans, playing in the AFC South, won their division for the first time in franchise history last season, making the playoffs for the first time as well. They finished with a 10-6 record. Head coach Gary Kubiak will be beginning his 7th season with the franchise in 2012.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs, playing in the AFC West, finished 4th in the division last season with a 7-9 record. Romeo Crennel, who took over for Todd Haley last year after week 13, will be their head coach to start off the 2012 season.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jags had a disappointing 2011, finishing with a 5-11 record, not bad enough to be last in the division thanks to the Indianapolis Colts. Mel Tucker took over for Jack Del Rio midway through the season, but Mike Mularkey will be the team’s HC in 2012.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins finished with a 6-10 record in the tough AFC East last year, also firing their head coach, Tony Sparano. Joe Philbin will make his debut as an NFL HC in 2012.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers had the best defense in the NFL last season, finishing with a 12-4 record, losing in the Wild Card Playoffs to the Broncos. Mike Tomlin begins his sixth year as the head coach of the team in 2012.
San Diego Chargers
The Chargers missed out on the postseason in 2011, finishing 8-8 and 2nd in the AFC West. Norv Turner will be beginning his sixth season as the head coach in Southern Calfironia.
San Francisco 49ers
Won the NFC West for the first time since 2002 with a 13-3 record under Jim Harbaugh’s first year at the job, stopped by the New York Giants in the NFC championship game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Finished last in the NFC South with a terrible 4-12 season, as Raheem Morris got fired and Greg Schiano, former head coach at Rutgers, begins his NFL coaching career in 2012.
Tennessee Titans
Despite a 9-7 season, the Titans missed out on the playoffs. Mike Munchak will being his second year as head coach in the post-Jeff Fisher era.
Helmets Collage
The common factor to all these helmets? Not one of these teams will win the Super Bowl this year
