2012 College Football Week 1 – Top 10 Photo Gallery


No upsets, no surprises, as no one in the preseason top 25 of the 2012 College football season lost to an unranked opponents, while Michigan and Boise State, both facing better opponents, were the only lose among those ranked in the AP Poll, losing to Alabama and Michigan State respectively.

Hawai’i 10 USC 49

The number one team in the nation had no problem in their home opener against the Warriors, with Matt Barkley, the favorite to win the Heisman trophy, throwing for 377 yards and four touchdowns, mostly enjoying the presence of Marqise Lee, catching 10 passes for 197 yards and returing a kick 100 yards for a touchdown.

Michigan 14 Alabama 41

Not even a fair fight in Cowboys stadium, as the national champions limited the Wolverines to only 269 total yards and Denard Robinson to only 27 on the ground, while putting up the first 31 points of the game and giving another painful reminder to the gap between the Big Ten and the SEC.

North Texas 14 LSU 41

An easy start for the #3 team in the nation, rallying behind Kenny Hilliard running for 141 yards in only 13 carries, scoring two touchdowns, making up for a shaky start from quarterback Zach Mettenberger.

Oklahoa 24 UTEP 7

Not the easiest of starts for the Sooners, but Landry Jones was efficient enough in the second half after a rough start, finishing with 222 yards and two touchdown passes and helped by a good day from Damien Williams, who closed out the game in the fourth quarter with a 65 yard touchdown run.

Arkansas State 34 Oregon 57

It was over before the first quarter ended, with Oregon leading 29-0 with 2:27 left in the quarter. They gained 605 yards, with De’Anthony Thomas scoring three touchdowns, two as a reciever and one on the ground.

Buffalo 23 Georgia 45

Running back Todd Gurley was the main catalyst on a less than impressive day from the #6 team in the nation, scoring three touchdowns, inclduing a 100 yard kick return and two more on the ground with 100 yards of rushing.

Murray State 3 Florida State 69

Not even close to being fair, as the Seminoles kept Murray State at 156 total yards for the game and no touchdowns. James Wilder Junior ran for 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Bjoern Werner was the focal point of the Florida State smothering defense, finishing with four sacks and five tackles for loss.

South Carolina 17 Vanderbilt 13

The team that some favor to win the SEC East, the Gamecocks overcame a Connor Shaw injury and a tough start to come away with the 17-13 win against Vandy, with Marcus Lattimore back in full shape, running for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

Jacksonville 24 Arkansas 49

A tough outing for the SEC East hopefuls, eyeing a record season and a BCS bowl, making it through a touch conference match-up at Vanderbilt, despite quarterback Connor Shaw going out and back in to the game, as Marcus Lattimore ran for two touchdowns, showing everyone he’s all nice and healthy again.
