Denver Nuggets – JaVale McGee is Great at Dunking

The problem with a lot of big men in the NBA today is the lack of offensive skills. JaVale McGee is yet another player who falls right into that stereotype, with his athleticism allowing him to be an excellent defender and shot blocker; fantastic at dunking the ball, as he proved in two consecutive plays as the Denver Nuggets lost to the Phoenix Suns.

McGee tide his season high of 16 points in the 100-110 loss in Phoenix, going 8-12 from the field, adding 3 rebounds in 2 blocks while playing 24 minutes. While Goran Dragic was the “man of the match” with 21 points and 7 assists, but McGee pulled off the most impressive “highlight worthy” feat of the night during the first quarter, first with an impressive dunk to finish off a fast break and 20 seconds later catching an alley-oop pass from Andre Miller.

Like the commentator says: McGee is one of those players that might become a true force if he ever develops some post moves, which 5 seasons into his NBA career, have yet to show up. McGee, despite the potential, is relying on his physical abilities to carry him through, but being that one dimensional is part of the reason he is playing less than 20 minutes a night, not starting a single game this season for the Nuggets.

He’s averaging 9.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 19.3 minutes through the first 8 games of the 2012-2013 NBA Season.
