Each year, it happens at one point. The NFL circle of life comes to completion, usually with the last of the undefeated teams going down. This time it was the Atlanta Falcons losing to the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears failing against the Houston Texans that helped complete the “anyone can beat anyone” of the 2012 NFL Season.

The Falcons were 8-0 until arriving in New Orleans to face the Saints, probably the team’s biggest rivals. And to think the Saints started the season 0-4, now at 4-5, 9th in the NFC conference rankings. It’s also lucky that the Jaguars (with a 22-17 win against the Indianapolis Colts early in the season) and the Chiefs (with an overtime 27-24 win against the Saints) aren’t that bad. Well, they are, but at least they have a win.

With the Texans and the Bears owning their only losses this season to the Green Bay Packers prior to Sunday night, that game had to end with a victor (unlike the rare draw between the San Francisco 49ers and the St. Louis Rams) so the chain had some separation. When people love to brag about NFL Parity, this is used as their proof, although having two teams with a 1-8 record and a lower than -100 point differential this season isn’t exactly the best way to show people it’s hard to predict winners in this league.
