Transfer Rumors 2012 – David Beckham to AS Monaco

Nothing will be known until after the MLS Cup Final David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy have on Saturday, but there’s a good chance that his first stop on the European negotiation circuit he’s about to embark on will be AS Monaco, currently playing in the French Ligue 2.

Beckham himself is denying these rumors and saying he’s fully focused on his current challenge, which is winning a second consecutive MLS championship; still, he probably won’t wait around too long before choosing a new club or as he’s called it, “one final challenge” before he hangs up his boots and focuses only on selling his biggest assets – his looks.

At the moment, Moncao, along with Nantes, are leading the second division in France with 29 points after 15 matches. While it’s hard to imagine Beckham going to a lower league team, Monaco are a club with a rich and successful history, not to mention the extremely attractive location, which is also not too far away from northern Italy and Milano that his wife loves so much.

Acoording to Monaco, there’s isn’t anything official at the moment, but if there’s a chance to get a player of Beckham’s stature, we’d be foolish not to explore it. Right now we’re trying to learn if Beckham’s future ambitions are in sync with ours. We understand he’s high in demand but it’s natural for a player with his experience and quality. Let’s see what the next few weeks bring. It’s a privilege to be linked with world-renowned players like Beckham.

Monaco’s best player is Ibrahima Toure, a Senegalese striker who arrived midway through the previous season and has since been scoring non-stop, netting 23 goals in 32 matches for the club.

Remember, after last season’s MLS Cup final match, it was thought that Beckham was going to end his Galaxy career, ending his contract with the team. Instead, he signed a new, two-year contract. So while Beckham is saying he’s looking for one last challenge, don’t be surprised to see him make another 180 and stick with his American adventure for one more year.
