Johnny Manziel, already the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy, also became the first freshman quarterback to be a part of the AP All-American team. He’s one of two Texas A&M players on the offensive first team. Alabama have four players, two on offense and two on defense, more than any other school.

Number one Notre Dame got only one name on the list, Heisman candidate Manti Te’o, as one of the linebackers on the defensive first team.  Barret Jones (Center) of Alabama, Montee Ball (Running Back) of Wisconsin and Jarvis Jones (linebackers) out of Georgia are the only players who became two-time All-Americans. Nine Southeastern Conference players made the first team, more than any other conference. The Pac-12 was second with six players on the first team. No other conference had more than two.

Ka’Deem Cary of Arizona was the nation’s leading rusher, averaging 146 yards per game. Montee Ball made a comeback after a slow start to earn his second All-American spot, averaging 133 yards per game. The wide recievers, Marqise Lee and Terrance Williams, were also on the top of the game across the nation. Lee led with 112 catches this season and came second with 1680 yards. Williams from Baylor led with 1764 yards.
