A season that began with USC as the number one team and hardly above .500 at the end, and ended with Alabama sitting once again on top of the College Football world.

A season that had some thinking West Virginia and Geno Smith are the real deal, but their defense crumbled after a fast start, ending on a cold and snowy day against Syracuse in New York.

A season with more SEC dominance – five teams in the top 10 of the final AP poll, but a huge disparity between the teams at the top of the conference and their bottom feeders, which kinda makes the SEC look a lot tougher than it actually is.

The year in which Texas A&M defied belief and ruled after leaving the Big 12 to the toughest conference in the land, as one young kind named Johnny Manziel simply couldn’t get caught once he got going, leading to the only defeat Nick Saban witnessed this season while becoming the first Freshman to win the Heisman trophy.

Notre Dame rose back from obscurity and mediocrity to the biggest stage of all, going undefeated through the entire season as Manti Te’o and their defense grabbed the headlines most of the time, only to be embarrassed by a much better Alabama team in the end.

Oregon were probably the second best team in the country, maybe even the best, we’ll never know. They were probably the most fun to watch, but one controversial loss to Stanford (Ertz’ touchdown) ended their national title dreams. Bill Snyder finally got Kansas State to a BCS Bowl game through gritty, very old-school kind of football, but couldn’t get the win.

And Northern Illinois, the second to last of the BCS Busters, or maybe the final one we’ll ever have, who didn’t really get to usurp Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Louisville beating Florida in the Sugar Bowl was the closest thing we had to a major upset.
