There isn’t anything official from the club just yet, but according to certain reports in Spain, Real Madrid are considering letting go of Kaka, releasing the Brazilian for free, maybe even this January.
After more than 3 seasons with the club following his acquistion from AC Milan for €65 million, one of the most expensive purchases of all-time, it might be time to cut him loose, or at least that’s the decision brewing up among the chiefs of the club.
Jose Mourinho has never really thought much of the former Ballon d’Or winner (2007), usually given him playing time off the bench or in less important matches, putting him in crucial moments only when forced to. Kaka himself hasn’t exactly delivered, burdened by injuries and an uphill struggle to recapture a place in the lineup under Mourinho.
After a rather successful first season, things haven’t carried on quite as planned – Kaka has played for Real Madrid a total of 73 league matches, scoring 20 goals and adding 21 assists. When he did get the minutes, he usually produced the goods, but it hasn’t been enough to win him a place in the lineup.
Seeing Kaka is still highly in demand, Real Madrid tried to ship him off back to AC Milan during the summer, but for no less than €20 million, and a similar offer was given to PSG, hoping someone will bite on the suggestion and rid them of his huge wage bill.
After getting sent off against Osasuna on Saturday, spending less than 15 minutes off the pitch, it looks like another reason for Real Madrid not to retain the services of the man who was considered for a while as the best player in the world was given. Kaka makes €16.9 million a season, and there’s a good chance that a mutual termination agreement is being reached, with Real Madrid tired of paying so much for a player they’re hardly using (once again, partly Mourinho’s fault) and Kaka looking for some first team football.
