Transfer Rumors 2013 – Bayern Munich Want to Sign Luis Suarez

Now that Pep Guardiola is the new and official head coach at Bayern Munich (once the season ends), names from big clubs around Europe will start flying around as transfer targets. The first one? Luis Suarez of Liverpool.

Not that Bayern Munich don’t have striker problems now. Mario Gomez is no longer with a firm grasp on the star striker position at the club, often having to play behind Mario Mandzukic who was signed during the summer from Wolfsburg, and looked very impressive while Gomez was nursing an injury he picked up after the Euro.

With Guardiola on board, it’s obvious that big names, with big price tags attached to them, are going to be linked with the club. Signing Javi Martinez for €40 million did change a bit the way some players might look at Bayern, although it’s hard to believe the club that has been run so well for so many years by the men in charge (Uli Hoeneß, Franz Beckenbauer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and recently Matthias Sammer) is going to overspend, being one of the most profitable clubs in the world.

Still, bringing in Guardiola on a reported contract of €51 million for three years does raise an eyebrow or two, and also declares that Bayern want to be a major part of the transfer market, although all of their success, including reaching two Champions League finals in three years wasn’t achieved by going after the most expensive names in Europe.

Luis Suarez was linked to Juventus and Manchester City during the summer after another disappointing Liverpool season, but despite the rough start in terms of achievements  things are going well for the Uruguayan striker, who doesn’t seem to mind being one of the most hated players in the Premier League, scoring 16 goals in 22 league matches so far, Liverpool finding themselves currently at 7th place.
